I so enjoy being a part of the TIX on the Square community in Edmonton. And I’m really happy that they invited me for an interview for their Meet Your Makers series! You can check it out below.
Here’s a portrait of a dog named Chowder. I was told that Chowder was not a princess, but a queen who was regal, demanding, and knew that she was better than others! She loved carrots, small cucumbers, and green beans. Chowder recently passed away but she will always be remembered by those who loved her. Thank you to Richard for trusting me with this special Christmas present!
Here’s a custom family portrait! Painting people as their animal alter egos is the most fun thing to do. I can be more playful as there is less pressure to capture a physical likeness. It’s more about personality! When I work on these projects, my desktop is always a cluster of the oddest combination of reference photos. It’s the best! Thanks to Melanie for allowing me to bring her ideas to life.
I can finally share some of the custom paintings I did for Christmas! Here’s a portrait of the adorable and beloved French bulldog named Remi. Sadly, Remi passed away this year and this painting was given as a gift to his human as a way to remember him. Thank you to my lovely client for trusting me with this meaningful project.
Here’s my sixth (!) poster for Alberta SPCA Education. This year’s theme of community and caring for others really resonated with me. This has been a challenging year for everyone, and I’ve certainly reflected on how much I miss the different communities that I’m a part of. I miss my friends, the arts and makers community, my students and colleagues at the college, and just being in public spaces with other people! Learning how to be a caring community member from a distance is an ongoing process, but I’m hopeful I will continue to improve! Posters are available for free for Alberta teachers at everylivingthing.ca!
Here’s an adoption card! A friend asked me a few years ago if I had one available and regrettably I never did until now. I’m working on designing a more diverse collection of greeting cards. Here’s a start!
Trying to remember there are lots of non-crappy things happening in 2020. Let’s celebrate them!
Here’s a new wedding card design I’m thinking of the 2020 couples who had to downsize or postpone their weddings. I can’t imagine all of the stress and disappointment that must’ve come with making those decisions. I’m thinking of my friends and aunt whose weddings I was so looking forward to attending this year. Hopefully we can all celebrate in person soon!
Thanks to everyone on Instagram who gave me such great ideas for new cards! I had three people suggest hedgehogs, so here they are! Cards and prints are available on my shop!
