I want to be one of those people who makes sourdough. I follow a few of them and longingly watch their stories about their sourdough and starters. The whole process is such a commitment. But how worth it! What’s better than a crusty slice of toasted gluten-free sourdough slathered in peanut butter and honey or smeared with salted butter and jam? Not to mention that this slowly fermented bread is prebiotic and good for digestion. This was beautiful loaf was gifted to us by my... friend @sanibelgirl37, a gluten-free home baker extraordinaire. With her Lady Bird Leavens endeavour (see her muse in pic 3), she bakes loaves of GF sourdough each week and donates them to the @seedsofhopefoundationto for gluten-free people in need. Look at all those bubbles in her crumb! Do you bake GF sourdough? Do you want to learn how? Drop a comment and let us know! #glutenfree #GF #glutenfreeaf #sourdough #sourdoughbread #gfsourdough #glutenfreesourdough #fermented #prebiotic #bread

Tell me happy birthday without telling me happy birthday. The Confetti Cake from @dolledupdessertsbaking! I saw it on their IG page a few weeks ago and had to get it for Lily’s birthday. This women-owned and -powered Hamilton bakery aims to revolutionize dessert. Founder and queen baker Katarina Poletto believes that dessert is meant to be shared (we agree!), so her bakery is all about inclusive desserts. They’re gluten free, vegan and nut freebut you would never know.... Katarina also believes that no matter what, dessert should always taste like dessert (we couldn’t agree more!) Dolled Up Desserts confetti cake tastes like the vanilla rainbow sprinkle cake you made from a box mix when you were a kid. But waaaay better! #glutenfree #GF #glutenfreeaf #dairyfree #nutfree #eggfree #vegan #inclusivedessert #bakedgoods #glutenfreebakedgoods #birthday #cake #birthdaycake #sprinkles #letthemeatcake #haveyourcakeandeatittoo #happybirthday

Salads should never be boring. I freaking love this one. I’ve been making it for years but I didn’t make it up. I don’t know who did. It’s got lacinato kale, chickpeas, quinoa (or you can use brown rice), pomegranate arils, feta and candied walnuts. The dressing is made to taste: olive oil, white balsamic, Dijon mustard and maple syrup (I use amazing maple @kozliksmustard), salt and pepper. Toss to combine and let the flavours meld together, then dig in #glutenfree #GF #glutenfreeaf #kale salad #kalesalad #whatceliacseat

Gluten-free life hack: Get a waffle maker. I don’t know what took us so long! Fluffy waffles straight off the griddle are like a warm hug you didn’t know you needed. We made these with @duinkerkenfoods pancake mix (it works perfectly for waffles!). We took brunch to the next level with a scoop of @honeys.icecream (plain yogurt and blueberry jam flavour) sandwiched between two waffles and topped it off with and of course pure Canadian maple syrup. Thanks to @eatwithraf for recommending the waffle maker and mix! We got the cutest mini waffle maker @bydash that is easy to store and makes perfectly browned fluffy waffles every time #glutenfree #GF #glutenfreeaf #waffles #wafflemaker #wafflesandwich #icecreamwaffle #icecream #brunchgoals #whatceliacseat #glutenfreehack

When life gives you another lockdown in a seemingly never-ending pandemic AND a second impeachment of the worst US president ever for inciting an insurrection AND constant gaslighting from said president and his family and certain members of the Republican Party...you make muffins! In a stroke of genius I made these muffins from my Bubby Fran’s banana chocolate chip cake recipe (link in bio). Same ingredients, just baked it for only 25 minutes. Delish! Would you rather h...ave a blueberry muffin or chocolate chip? #glutenfree #gf #glutenfreeaf #whatceliacseat #muffins #mmmuffins #glutenfreebaking See more

I don’t even have the words to describe the baked goods from Choko Mocko. They are out of this world! This family-owned gluten-free bakery in Ajax has perfected the art and science of GF baking. From the taste to the texture to the looks of their baked goods, you would never know that they are gluten free. These chocolate eclairs are also dairy free, vegan, refined sugar free, keto, paleo and grain free. I don’t know how they do it! A lovely friend picked up some eclairs, c...rullers, croissants and donuts for us today. I made sure to take some pics right away, because the last time we went to the bakery the food didn’t make it home. We inhaled it all in the car. Lily kept asking, are you SURE this is gluten free? If I hadn’t bought the baked goods myself I would have wondered the same thing! I may start a petition to have Choko Mocko at the next Gluten Free Garage. If you want them to come too, leave a in the comments! See more

Y’all are freaking out over this picture of garlic bread I shared in my stories. Made with the @edibleoptions GF baguette, it totally tasted as decadent as it looks, so cheesy and buttery and garlicky But I can’t take the credit. It was made by my hubby @bob.e.lava! You should have it too! 1/2 cup butter, softened 4 cloves garlic 1/2 tsp kosher salt... 2 tbsp fresh chopped parsley 1 baguette, cut lengthwise 1/4 cup grated Parmesan Preheat oven to 425 and line a large baking sheet with foil. Make garlic butter: In a small bowl mix softened butter with garlic, salt and parsley until well combined. Spread cut sides of baguette liberally with garlic butter. Sprinkle with Parmesan. Bake until bread is toasty and golden at the edges, about 10 minutes. We broiled it for a hot minute at the end. After much deliberation (and some denial) we are sad to announce that Gluten Free Garage will not be taking place on October 4th. There is too much uncertainty about what will happen in the fall and this difficult decision was made with the health and safety of our vendors, attendees, staff and volunteers in mind. What are we going to miss the most? Seeing everyone stuff their beautiful faces! Gluten Free Garage will be back on Sunday May 30th! Mark it in your calendars! We will gather again and eat all the delicious gluten-free food! In the meantime, stay healthy and stay tuned here for some amazing gluten-free giveaways coming soon...

Summer just got yummier! Now’s the perfect time to make this corny salad. Here’s how. Mix together: 2 cups cooked corn 1 diced avocado 1 pint halved cherry tomatoes... 1/2 cup diced red onion (I like to add diced peaches or nectarines when I have them and sometimes I throw in some chickpeas and call it dinner) In a separate bowl whisk together: 2 tbsp olive oil 1 tbsp fresh lime juice 1/2 tsp lime zest 1/4 cup chopped cilantro Salt and pepper to taste Stir the vinaigrette into the salad and serve. Enjoy! #glutenfree #GF #glutenfreeaf #naturallyglutenfree #dairyfree #vegan #summer #salad See more

This is Jessica, otherwise known as Gfreewifey. She founded and runs the GFreeWifey Food Bank. Food banks need our help now more than ever, as food insecurity has risen dramatically during the COVID-19 pandemic. Nobody should have to go without access to safe food. #gfreewifeyfoodbank provides safe gluten-free food directly to 25 clients who medically require a gluten-free diet and are in great need at this time. Gfreewifey typically hosts food drives at Gluten Free Garage ...and other GF festivals (Gluten Free Fest and Gluten Free Goodness Expo) but with these events cancelled she needs our support to help feed GF families in need. Last month we partnered with Gfreewifey and reached out to GFG vendors to request non-perishable GF food donations. With the help and generosity of several of our sponsors and vendors, we collected 729 pounds of GF food, which Gfreewifey assembled into food boxes and hand-delivered to her clients! A huge thanks to the companies (pictured here) that so graciously stepped up and donated! For Celiac Awareness Month, we are reaching out again to GFG vendors and GF companies/brands to provide food for the #gfreewifeyfoodbank. If you are able to make a food donation, please DM me or Gfreewifey for more info. We are also asking you, our friends in the community, to please consider making a donation to the #gfreewifeyfoodbank Go Fund Me to help Gfreewifey reach her goal of $6,000. The link is in my comments below. Every dollar counts right now. Thank you in advance for your tummy love See more

Our Saturday night was LIT Lily and I drove downtown to see the CN Tower light up green in honour of Celiac Awareness Month! Last year we gathered with the Canadian Celiac Association, Promise Gluten Free and a few friends from the community to see the tower light up, but this year it was just the two of us. I felt it was important to recognize International Celiac Awareness Day with my gluten-free girl. So many important events and occasions have been cancelled lately b...ut this was something we could do together. To just look up at the sky and see the CN Tower glowing green in honour of celiac disease. I wanted to celebrate with Lily how far we’ve come in the past 11 years since her diagnosis, with regards to her health, celiac awareness and the availability of safe and delicious gluten-free food! Thank you to the incredible celiac and gluten-free community, both in real life and on social media; to the CCA for its advocacy and support of this community; and to all of the bakeries, restaurants and companies that make our gluten-free life so damn yummy See more
