Following the Minister’s statement on moderate livelihood March 3rd, we have continued to be actively engaged in productive discussions with various communit...ies in the development and implementation of moderate livelihood fishing plans. We would like to remind all harvesters that any fishing activity occurring outside of the Fisheries Act and associated regulations, without an authorized licence or in contravention of a licence issued by the Department is subject to enforcement action. Yesterday, traps were seized in the St. Peter’s Bay #NovaScotia for a variety of reasons. Investigations are ongoing, and our fishery officers will continue their important work of fostering compliance with the Fisheries Act to help ensure a sustainable and prosperous fishery for all. A predictable lobster fishing season plays an important role in protecting our resources both economically and sustainably. We manage the fishery on a seasonal basis with specific considerations for each lobster fishing area. Learn more: http://ow.ly/GgD350ECAtw
