To the City, Parking Enforcement, and Downtown London Business Association. As a downtown business owner, I continue to keep my business alive by doing delivery, gift basket orders, takeout...pretty much anything I can. The City has done nothing to help.... It's actually more than London Downtown Business Association and Dundas Place (the latter a complete waste of taxpayer money) have done. Both have been a hinderance to the recovery of Downtown London. The leadership of both of these groups is, well, quite simply, ill equipped, over-matched, and incompetent. That's that! As a final straw, I was issued my 5th parking ticket in a loading zone today. I have asked the Downtown London Business Association to contact the city regarding their aggressive ticketing techniques, for my staff, guests and myself. While it is generally easier for guests to go to the burbs, have free parking and support the chains, many have decided to come downtown and make a purchase. As their bonus, they get aggressive parking enforcement to add stress and additional costs for their excursion. The officer that issued all five of my tickets is DL Miller, Badge #912. She is mid 40's to early 50's, petit and unaccommodating. She sits in Covent Market Lane and cherry picks with her parking enforcement. Officer Miller collects her pay cheque, and makes her quotas, regardless of the situation. Her pay is unaffected and she still has a job as opposed to the 50% of my staff on layoff. Before she issued the ticket, I explained the situation (that I was delivering gift baskets) and she replied "you've been 40 minutes in a 30 minute section, I'm giving you the ticket, sir". She could have let the ticket go. She chose not to. Please wish her a Merry Christmas from Joe at gNosh if you see her. Where are you Mr Mayor, Ed....Ed? i have requested your explanation of lack of involvement before and ask it again. Where are you sir? Is a viable downtown not part of your purview?
