Are doubts normal? I think so, at least for me they are. Sometimes it seems that God isn’t there, I can’t point to where he is, I can’t reach out to touch him. Is he real? Or is Christianity just another religion or myth, a story made up around countless campfires, spanning thousands of years. I find that sometimes I need to go back to the beginning to get grounded. Over the years at our Ask A Christian booth people have asked how we can know that God is real. Sometimes we an...swer with a question, why is there anything instead of nothing? When people think about it, they realize that the universe couldn’t have just popped into existence without a cause. As Greg Koukl of Stand To Reason says, you can’t have a big bang without a big banger. The universe has a beginning. Willian Lane Craig of Reasonable Faith promotes the Kalam Cosmological Argument. It goes like this: 1) Whatever begins to exist has a cause. 2) The universe began to exist. 3) Therefore, the universe has a cause. When I look around and see all that exists, and know from experience that anything that begins to exists has a beginning, I know that there is a creator. This argument doesn’t prove the God of the bible, but it does prove that there is a creator who is outside of time and space. Knowing that this universe isn’t the result of chance, but has been created by an all-powerful Person with a purpose in mind, helps calm my doubts. For the past eight years we have been answering questions about Christianity and Christian world view at local fairs and rib fests. Since these events aren't available to us this summer, we've started a Facebook page. If you have questions you'd like to ask, or are looking for some conversation about these topics, go ahead and contact us. You can private message if you like, or just comment below.
