GobbleStalker Custom Turkey Calls

Well the birds this morning didn’t cooperate to well so set out for an late afternoon hunt as I was pretty sure I had a pair of toms patterned. Well at 6pm right on schedule they came into range and I decided to fill my second tag with this guy. Not a monster but a nice bird to say the least. My only regret is my son decided to not come this afternoon and we would if had a great chance at a father son double.

So proud of my wife today. We did an afternoon sit getting to our spot at 1:30 knowing birds show up between 2:30 and 4. 2 hens show up at 3 followed by 2 jakes which were not sure about the DSD Jake decoy, so they stopped at 25 yards and headed for the bush. Andrea looked at me and I said the toms will show later typically so she let the jakes walk. Fast forward to a pair of very numb bums and I hear a gobble in the distance . 10 min later a 3rd hen comes into the decoys... which still has the first 2 hanging around. I hear a gobble again and he is deep and close. Then he pops out into the field sees the decoys and 3 live hens. He starts heading to the Jake decoy all the time scanning the field edge like no other bird I have seen. He sees something he doesn’t like and I tell my wife to kill him. The rest is history. Biggest bird in the Bartley house to date. Bird was weighed in officially for a competition also. 26.4 lbs 1.5 Spurs 11 beard Congratulation to my wonderful wife you deserve it.

Well Andrea and I were invited by our good friend and GobbleStalker prostaff Mike Gill for a early morning turkey hunt. The first light set up we had 5 birds g...obbling but they were very henned up. We decided to get in the truck and put on a few km’s to see if we could find some active birds. An hour later we were trying to bring a couple of birds across a road and a field when we heard gobbles behind us. A quick adjustment in set up spot and we had two birds walk right into the decoys. We ended up with a Mother’s Day double. What a great way to spend Mother’s Day morning with my wife. Maybe we can make this a tradition. Funny thing is the Tom I shot only had 1 spur as the other one had been recently torn off in a fight i’m assuming. Tom was 20.15lbs with a 10 beard and a single 1 1/8 spur. The Jake was 15.10lbs. Well Matthew got it done this morning and is officially tagged out. I went to pick this Tom up and thought it felt pretty heavy. 23.89 lbs with a 9 beard and 7/8 spurs. Plus he carried it out on his own. Now time for momma and I to seal the deal do we can get to do some fishing.
