GO Bike Restoration 03.06.2021

Spring is coming and let’s face it, if you’re not recovering from COVID-19, you’re hopefully getting outside. Take your whip for a ride, but first, safety first, please https://youtu.be/_ifFqsEkzXM

We teach our kids bike safety and would love to extend our NPO into education on road safety, helmet fitting, bike lessons, bike maintenance and just general fun biking as a family and with friends! Safety makes bike riding fun and enjoyable for a LONG time! https://youtu.be/T50LWSX-jhg

We want every kid on a bike for fitness, mental wellness and for the health of our planet. Having said that, every bike comes with a helmet and we’d love every kid who already owns and rides a bike to wear one (parents included) https://youtu.be/aBndenMJdw0

Thank you everyone who supported us in 2019! We had a goal to donate 50 bikes to the Kiwanis Club of Cochrane by Christmas 2019. We were able to donate 35 bikes: 2 were completely repainted (because it was needed), handgrips and tassels were added to a few that required new grips, we purchased a few seats after we tried twice to re-cover the seats ourselves (a DIY fail) and a good chunk of bikes only needed some basic TLC. Looking back we learned we took in too many bikes at... one time and were overwhelmed with storing them. We took on too many complete overhaul bikes. We shouldn’t have taken the time to paint the rims of one bike. Having said that, I’m SO glad we took this on. It gave us something to work on as a family, everyone with specific roles to play from washing to the mechanical stuff. It let us and you recognize the volume of our garbage situation. It allowed us to pour out our love of cycling into families who could use an uplift, especially at this time of year. And truly, we felt the love and support for the kids receiving these bikes and helping us with our vision to divert waste from landfills and make sure every kid has the opportunity to experience the pure joy of biking outside! Merry Christmas to you and yours XO the Pyke Family

Talk about goal crushing! We set out to acquire 50 bikes for kids ages 3-13. Currently, we have 50 bikes. We have prepared 15 for donation and have 35 to still get ready. Even though we’ve met our goal, we will continue to accept bike donations that have a wheel circumference of 24 (maximum). Thank you to everyone who donated their kids’ bikes for other children to experience the same joy of bike riding!
