Not a funny But a Fact for the Kiddos ****
Given the current social restrictions regarding COVID in our area and the anticipated further continuance of those or possible modifications to them, along with the the real prospect of not reaching herd immunity until late fall, we have unfortunately decided that we cannot provide birthday rides this summer. Everyone’s safety is our first priority. We apologize to the kids. Don’t let your silence drown out their cries.
Last year I reached out to a few charity organizations both locally and nationally and donated a framed photo of mine. This photo is of the Tragically Hips comm...emoration stone that was inlaid at Market Square, and with the help of Kasador, a local rock band, I was able to obtain the signatures of the 4 remaining Tragically Hip members. (See picture.) One of the organizations I donated to was Guardians of the Children -Kingston Branch. I won't go into detail about what they do, but you should check them out...wonderful group, wonderful people helping abused children. They have been trying for almost 6 months to setup an auction/raffle/etc with roadblocks being thrown up everywhere they went. It seems that the local government wants their piece of the pie...so to speak. The city would take 3% of the top...and when you're a small organization...that 3% can make all the difference in the world. Guardians of the Children - Kingston 343 364 1635 reached out to me a few weeks ago, disappointed and frustrated they haven't been able to get this off the ground because of all of the red tape. They reluctantly were looking at giving the print back...so, I decided to take it off of their hands (not literally), and I'm auctioning this off myself and will be donating 100% of the proceeds to GOC Kingston. So I'm asking ALL of my followers and friends...could you please share this post on all of your social media pages? Let's get this thing started and raise some funds for a great cause. This print is valued at $300, opening bid is $150. https://app.galabid.com//45fdb9d6-02ae-45c0-9be9-7e232b7f2 *This auction is not affiliated with Facebook or GOC Kingston.
April is Child Abuse Prevention Month!
Children living in homes where there is parental substance abuse can find life difficult, unpredictable, and confusing. Dealing with the chaos and unpredictability can leave kids feeling insecure and uncertain. Abuse, neglect and violence have all increased dramatically with COVID-19, and the quarantine has further exacerbated this leaving them to feel scared, lonely and many times they feel isolated. Their established coping mechanisms are disrupted leaving them even more vulnerable and hopeless. Remember the children during this pandemic and be a light in their darkness.
Due to get out this year - if he isn’t already. Deemed moderate to high risk of re-offending.
Human trafficking is the business of stealing freedom for profit. In some cases, traffickers trick, defraud or physically force victims into providing commercia...l sex. In others, victims are lied to, assaulted, threatened or manipulated into working under inhumane, illegal or otherwise unacceptable conditions. #stophumantrafficking #stopchildtrafficking #guardiansofthechildrentoronto See more

We can’t say this enough
You can make the difference in a child’s life.
The RCMP's Provincial Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit has arrested a Liverpool man for child pornography offences. RCMP began an investigation after rece...iving information from the National Child Exploitation Crime Centre (NCECC). On November 13, the RCMP ICE Unit searched a home in Liverpool, assisted by the RCMP Digital Forensic Services Unit, and Liverpool RCMP Detachment. Lauren McKiel, 83-years-old, was arrested at the residence without incident. He has been charged with Possession of Child Pornography. McKiel was released by the court on conditions and is next scheduled to appear in Bridgewater Provincial Court on December 16. In Nova Scotia it is mandatory for citizens to report suspected child pornography. This means that anyone who encounters child pornography material or recordings must report it to the police. Failing to report suspicious activity and materials could result in penalties similar to failure to report child abuse set out in the Child and Family Services Act. The RCMP encourages citizens to be a voice for children who are victims of sexual exploitation by reporting any suspected offences to your local police or by using Canada's National tipline for reporting online sexual exploitation of children at www.cybertip.ca.
