I grew up on a small farm outside of Athabasca, and I loved skiing circles around our farmyard. I would pretend I was Beckie Scott or Sara Renner racing in the Olympics, and my dad would give race commentary. My parents put me in Athabasca Nordic’s Jackrabbit program, and I got my first taste of racing (and post-race hot chocolate!) at the Tawatinaw Loppet. To join - message them or go to Myrnam Agencies and get your TRAIL PASS and CLUB MEMBERSHIP. Their next meeting is on December 2 at 7pm at the Myrnam Arena. Anyone can attend. They now have over 165km of trails and 4 warm up cabins. Direct access to Lakeland’s IRON HORSE TRAIL from their trail system. Passes are $80 until Dec ...31. Then $90. Youth pass is $40 up to 13 years old. Club membership is $15 for family $10 for single. Remember 1/2 the money comes back to their club to build and maintain trails and cabins.
