TEAM CANADA UPDATE - WORLD CUP World Cup Day 1! Today consisted of 5 races. The first two races were 1000m small boat heat and quarterfinal. The format of this... race has each country represented by a women and men small boat. The women start the race followed by the men, 10 seconds later. The objective is to have both boats cross the finish line which is when the timer stops. The heats and quarterfinals had 4 countries in each race which meant 8 boats on the course. With such narrow lanes, the course was very choppy and disruptive. Canada came first in both races for the 1000m which placed us well for the 400m races. In the 400m races which were the next 3 races, is a relay race for the women and men small boats of each country on a 200m course. The women start on one end and the moment they cross the finish line, the men start their race. Canada prevailed top of each race against Hong Kong, Great Britain and Chinese-Taipei. Overall, it was a great day. This team races exceptionally well with high positive spirits and will continue to keep the energy high as we progress to the next two days of the competition!
