We are excited to welcome guest instructor Barbara Bourget, Artistic Director of Kokoro Dance and Co-Producer of the Vancouver International Dance Festival, to teach contemporary creation as part of our new spring dance program for senior students, Spring Awakening! Over the past 58 years, Barbara has performed ballet, modern and butoh with companies including the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, Paula Ross Dance Company and Kokoro Dance. She also teache...s modern dance and has choreographed over 190 works. In 2011, she received the City of Vancouver Mayor’s Arts Awards in Dance. On International Women's Day we celebrate empowering strong women from diverse backgrounds. Academy Co-Founder Mrs Lin Yee Goh immigrated to Canada in 1977. After her own illustrious career as a Principal Dancer with the Central Ballet of China, she came to Canada to share her love of dance with generations of young aspiring dancers who have gone on to have outstanding careers in some of the top professional companies in the world. Paving the way for so many young women to s...ucceed in ballet, Mrs Goh's tenacity and vision by leading through example has enabled generations of women to share their individual gifts in this art form.
