Some of the worst flooding our community has seen. The Heber River often gets high during the rain season in November, but 1990 saw a record amount of rainfall and it totally overwhelmed the streets, as well as flooding Big Bend.

Gold River, BC - how the community was built, why we are here. Gold RIver was an "instant town" and the first in Canada to have all of its electric wiring underground.

Volunteers Wanted Last summer the Museum and Archives was fortunate enough to receive a number of back issues of The Record, our local newspaper for many years. We were also in the process of moving, so things were quite hectic. This spring we are looking for any members of the community who may be interested in helping catalogue and record our newspaper holdings. Part of this process will include looking for grants to help digitize our ever increasing news collection. Hour...s are flexible and will depend on who comes forward. If you are interested in being involved, please email [email protected] We apologize, but messages left on this site will NOT be answered.

A new Community Directory is underway. If you are new to the area, or want to update / change your information, please contact [email protected] , mail to PO Box 985, Gold River, BC, V0P 1G0, or come in to the Literacy Centre, weekdays 10am - 1pm and we can chat. All businesses in the community are welcome to be listed. We'd like you to buy an ad and support the directory, but you don't have to. It is meant to provide community information to members of both Gold River and Tsaxana and if there's something you think we should have in there, please let us know!

Two gems from the early days - the first is an invitation to the opening ceremonies of the new village in 1965, the second is one of the first tourist brochures
