Golden Valley Equestrian Center 23.11.2020

The hay was dry but storm clouds off to the west on Saturday afternoon. One round of the field when the wind hit and this is about all that's left. Oh well, I wanted to be a hay farmer!

Departure to Pincher Creek at 9:30 this morning. What a week this has been! It's now back to the normal day to day stuff like cutting hay and spending time with our own horses. We have thoroughly enjoyed having so many people here to visit these beautiful Hanoverian horses and chat with the RCMP ride members. These are memories of a lifetime.

Loading the vans to ride in Carstairs at 7PM. They will be returning here about 9:30 PM for the night. There is still opportunity to attend the stable to see them off in the morning - expect their departure to be about 10 AM.

The day of rest was enjoyed by the horses and ride members in our community. Many found their way to Drumheller to visit the Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology, some to Golf at Three Hills Golf course and others checked out the town. Sgt. Dawson came out to the stables and used the outdoor ring to school some of the younger horses and commented on the peaceful setting and enthusiasm of the visitors coming by to visit the horses. Those on duty at the stable put polish on their kit in their spare time - thus the photo of Cst Babinec's boots! This was a time for us to get to know and and discover the unique characters of some of these horses. It is only fitting that "Teddy" the horse ridden by Sergeant Major Martin Kohnen who leads the members into the ride and takes the salute, is stabled at the 1st stall, greeting all the visitors.

"Empress" is introduced to her Aunt Katrina following a 3 day trip across the country. In true Canadian fashion she proudly stepped off the truck and checked out her new home after saying goodbye to her Percheron travel companion. Thank you Marvin, TamMar transport, you provide an invaluable service. Your love and care for your precious cargo is so appreciated!
