Today is Pete’s 10th annual Gotcha Day. He came to live with us after spending his first 2.5 years as a pampered apartment dog in downtown Calgary. On the dog aging chart, Pete is the human equivalent of about 80 years old now. ... We’ve confirmed he has laryngeal paralysis, which makes his breathing loud and hoarse when he’s making a physical effort. He also has arthritis in his hips and he occasionally flops over when his back legs won’t support him (he gets right back up). He still enjoys running/walking and wrestling with Ruby in the yard but those long, thoughtful hikes are now behind him. Here’s a look at Pete!!

A warm, sunny day yesterday but Pete and Ruby woke up to a blizzard this morning . . . . . at least the grass is turning green.
