Golden View Hero 110F is a 3yr old bull that is seeing service on my purebred heifers this year. Him and his paternal brother have worked the past 2 years on approximately 60 of my commercial heifers and I have been really impressed with the growth of their calves and their calving ease.

Well, we are on the tail end of calving season with just 20 left to go. Even after 350 calves, this never gets old! Every time I see a water bag I still get excited and nervous. I finally managed to get a few of the boys cleaned up and pictured this weekend. I tried out my new camera lens but not 100 % comfortable with it yet lol. Just a small sampling of the yearling bulls produced here. Thanks to my daughter Brianna and Kylar for all your help.

Some of the PB calves born the last couple of months. We sure have a lot of color this year and a lot of heifers!

Letting the bottle babies out of the pen to play! We had over 8 sets of twins in a little over a week plus another cow who refused to take her calf and one who refused to nurse the cow. At one point I was bottle feeding 10 calves a day. A few got sold and 3 got new mama’s. They are a lot of work and sure can be a pain, but I love them to death.

We are almost a month into calving season and I already have a favorite! This two week old JSF Talking Point bull calf is out of Golden View Dandy. His 3/4 brother is one of my top yearling bulls and his full sister was in my show string last year. I have high hopes that he will follow in their footsteps. My fingers (and toes) are crossed lol.

The count down is on! A little over 3 weeks until the purebreds and the commercial heifers start calving. I think I get more excited about calving season than I do about Christmas :)

We had a great week at the Lloydminister Stockade Round Up. A huge thank you goes out to all the Sponsors and staff at the Exhibition Grounds who made the show happen! It was a well organized event with a wonderful atmosphere!! Great facilities and great staff! I was honored to have both my heifer calves chosen as Grand Champion Shorthorn Female and Reserve Champion Shorthorn Female. We also received Premier Breeder and Premier Exhibitor. It was a lot of work to get the anim...als ready for only one show this year but it was well worth it. I would like to thank Brianna Senetza and Morgan Lehmann for helping me all week. We weaned most are of the calves a couple of weeks ago. I think these mama’s were more than ready. When I let the cows out, they swam the creek to get to the grass on the next quarter and didn’t come back until the next morning!
