Hello. Wow this week has been bonkers. I (@jessrossthebaker) have been working on how to safely get GIB goods out into the world. Read these directions on how to get products and then visit the GIB online shop (link in bio) to place an order. THIS WEEK, SOUTH SHORE: I will be making a run to Lunenburg this Thursday with breads, cheeses and preserves. You can order these through my online shop. You must select Thursday March 19th + pickup in the online shop. It will be prepa...ckaged (in my bakery) and bags with people's names on them will be available at a parking lot in Lunenburg Thursday morning, from 8 until noon. The farmers' market will be running a food vendors only version of itself, outside. Place orders before tomorrow at noon. THIS WEEK, HALIFAX: You can go to the online shop and order products that will be available for pick up Saturday (location TBD). Products will be packaged only in the bakery under very serious sanitation protocol. There is only one producer in the bakery and she is feeling healthy and tough. To place orders in Halifax, go to the online store (link in bio) and select the products you want and check out. Select Time and Date- choose Saturday. If you choose Thursday your order will go to Lunenburg. Choose pick up or if you are in self-isolation, choose delivery and follow the instructions. GIB breads will be available also at the Warehouse Market on Isleville where they will be open this Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Consider stocking up a bit. NEXT WEEK, HALIFAX: I will be teaming up with @halifax.warehouse.market and @afishionadomonger and more food producers who are rolling out a home delivery system. Stay tuned for more info on that. Sending lots of love to everyone, stay safe and stay at home, except to get Things are so wildly unpredictable, consider freezing a loaf. Gold Island Bakery is a one woman show and I am pushing myself right now, hoping to get a good load of wholesome foods out there as long as I stay healthy. Hey Folks! Winter is here! A time for learning and slow living (maybe), working on new practices! What that means for me is that its workshop season. A time for me to read and study more about bread and grains and go out and create a teaching space. SO! First up, on February 3rd, I'm offering a workshop on baking with Whole Grains. We will cover pastries and some bread, and lots of good information about how to work whole grains into your diet and your baking life. I know the...re is a lot of public pressure via diet culture to eliminate carbs and therefore grains but I think there are lots of ways grains in your diet can be healthy, offer vitality to your body, and in a more affordable way than a diet that eliminates grains. I'm looking for someone local or some one not so local (there are sleeping accommodations possible on the farm where there bakery is located during work times). Hey! Tomorrow is my preserve launch at the Brewery Market. I've been filling my storage room with jars and now I'm moving them into the market and they will be available for viewing, purchasing and for tasting- as I'll be serving out some dishes featuring the 2015 preserves. Come down between 7 am and 1 pm, You can find me in the lower courtyard (look for the stacks of jars)!
