It is established in parts of Quebec including the St. Lawrence River and may be s...preading upriver towards Lake Ontario. If you happen to see tench, or catch one, report sightings to EDDMapS Ontario or by calling the Invading Species Hotline at 1-800-563-7711. Mounting evidence re gas supersaturation caused by unusual dam operations the driver of the fish kills on the Ottawa River. Although a fish kill is never good news, I would much rather have this be the cause than some nasty chemical added to the water. Certainly no issues related to human health and safety or those of other wildlife and no legacy contaminants. But still much to do. EXACTLY why did this happen when it is not like we see such kills every year? Was the unusual spring to blame? Can we expect more of this in future (climate change!)? What are the best ways to mitigate this at this specific facility?
