The dental hygienists will di...scuss the findings with you and determine what dental hygiene treatment is required. Any areas of concern will be referred to your dentist or another health professional such as your physician. 3 Cleaning - Your treatment will likely include scaling and root planning to remove plaque and calculus from the tooth surfaces. After this, they may polish some of the teeth to remove any remaining stains.
