Gone Wild Kennels 30.05.2021

WHAT A DAY! Started off going to my neighbors to start processing 4 steers with a butcher from Sundre. Had a text from Jackie telling me to call her asap ! Found out , Catherine the lady that help watch the dogs this morning had 2 dogs slam into her knee. This is the text I received while she was at the foothills hospital loaded up on lots and lots of great pain drugs. Surgery. Today.... Femur right above knee is "smashed " Broken knee cap too. Complicated surgery. It damaged so easily because of vitamin d level. They are looking for a doc who can do this kind of surgery. She was transferred to the Rockyview hospital around 3 pm. This is where the specialist is that will be fixing her all up better. Jackie and myself wish for a speedy recovery! I would love to say break a leg but you did that already. LMAO Found the 4th barn cat hanging around the house. Thank you to the cochrane spca.

Well a good thing is our 2 older Cochrane spca barn cats made it through the winter as well as our 2 newest barn cats who are less then a years old. The 2 young ones are untouchable , true barn cats. The older ones love patrolling the house on the hill. I can only find 3 pictures of the 4 barn cats. Shout out to #Rickfriesen the handyman. If you do need a reliable handyman , let me know and I will give you his contact info. Or maybe Rick can post something on this post when h...e sees it. Rick lives in Hertitage hills , Cochrane. He had a nice looking dogwood tree he was going to get rid of and I said I would be happy to find it a new home. If you are digging up medium sized trees and your just going to cut them down , let me know what you have. I'm always looking for medium sized trees. The size of tree I can dig up and transport in my truck ! Did Oden's nails yesterday and this is only part of the nail dust left over from the big guy. See more

Let's take a trip 2 years ago or longer. Most of my long time clients will remember the sweetest , loving chocolate lab ( Kodi B) kodi was a client GWK for 6 or 7 years ? Could be longer. Correct me if I'm wrong Lori. After a 2 year hiatus , Tizzy arrived at her new for ever home and will be a handful I'm sure. Labs are notorious for eating anything and everything. Congrats guys on your new family member. Look forward to puppy kisses. Reminder and it won't be the last.... If your planning on traveling as the vaccines are starting to ramp up finally. You need to bring your dog for a reminder visit. It's not fair for them to be at home for over a year and then all of a sudden their owners decide to go for holidays. Oops we need to contact a kennel for our dog. Once I start to get many more booking and the world gets back to normal. Dog owners need to provide a current vaccination records and proof. As well as a current emergency contact number ! There has been many animal owners skipping their animals vaccinations. This is my back up. Just encase there is an issue with a covid dog while being boarded. Trust me , I have seen my fair share of covid / unsocialized dogs ! All my clients to date that board their dog have been very good about bringing a copy for my files and are social. People need to get a gab in their arms so we can the herd immunity % and get back to normal ! Like it or not people need to get the shot in their arm. Jackie and myself hope to get a call from the pharmacy this week. Call your local pharmacy , 811 or AHS and get on a wait list.

Started to snow around 10pm. These 2 pictures were taken after the dog clients were let out for their morning bathroom break / run around. Then back in for breakfast

The new hatch should be complete by tomorrow morning. Truly a zen moment. A client mentioned to me when she drops her dog off weekly. She makes time to visit the farm animals and just zone out and clear ones mind. I totally get it. I sometimes take what I do for granted until clients tell me different. Dogs were outside running around while I help this little chick get out of its shell tonight. Can't forget about the elk. Lol

Happy Easter Sunday. Say hello to Remy and Felix. They used to be boarded in NW calgary until their mom and dad heard of our dog boarding Facility. Look forward to a long relationship with their folks as well as the hounds.

I understand Gracie just found her new kennel when her humans go for holidays. They never heard of our kennel until they did a Google search. Gracie has been boarded years elsewhere , south Cochrane. Welcome ! Looking at the size of this Dorper sheep she will be having twins. The fainting goat will have twins forsure possibly triples. They are due around April 15th. Enjoy the warm weekend.

I wonder who is more tired this evening. Willow the 5 month old cross or our 3 bostons. Duke is wiped, 14 plus years old , it really takes a toll on him. That's OK we are going to give him the best 2021 possible. Duke is slowly breaking down. The bostons haven't been outside for the entire afternoon in awhile. Willow is getting spayed next week , so we won't be seeing here for a couple of weeks.

Just sharing pictures from God's country west of Cochrane , Alberta! Neat pictures with all the elk tracks !

Gone Wild Kennels 24.01.2021

Started lastnight with a beautiful sunset and the massive herd of elk about a 1/2 mile away to the southwest. As the evening went on the elk decided to hang out over night around our house. The elk were still bedded down around our house at 5.45am , that's when I went down with my side by side to let the hounds out. Fences are merely exercise for the elk to jump and keep warm. Once the elk herd sources out a food source they won't leave until it's absolutely necessary. Here are some random pictures of the elk and all their tracks from lastnight and into this morning. I lost count after 400 ! Springtime there will be at least 50% more when the babies start popping out.

Hugo is a new client and is a Alapaha blue blood bulldog. His mom and dad wants to try our kennel out as they weren't happy with there last choice. Their last kennel is north of our place. The first and the last time they picked him up , his bedding was soiled and Hugo was not the same dog as they dropped off 2 weeks prior ! As well the kennel building was cold ! His dad dropped Hugo off this morning and it only took Hugo 5 mins to figure out he can run all over the place and... gently wrestled with other dogs. So far so good. Dad knows what Hugo is all about. I asked for his bedding and he pointed to the trunk of his car and said the tore up carpet is his bedding. There you go a parent that isn't holding anything back about his dog. Once again Kole is right there to meet Hugo into the kennel. Then it's playtime. Thank you to a ex client, Donna N for the referral.

This is a ( traffic ) Elk Jam , I can watch all evening long. These elk are only worried about self preservation and eat to survive!

Bandit is telling everybody out in Facebook land , it's super cold ( -32 ) without the wind chill and you need to stay inside as much as possible. Bandit and his brother and sister are really happy they are not barn cats ! If you do wonder outside like uncle Dave and those hounds please make it a quick run around then back inside. I notice uncle Dave let's the dogs out every 90 mins for a short blast then back into the warm building. A large elk herd are south of our place and only have one thing on their mind , preservation eat ,eat and eat more. Two more days of the brutal weather then the polar vortex is moving east.
