Client wanted a plug at the bottom of the stairs for a small table. House is almost 200 years old and foundation is 2 ft thick under this floor so made getting up and into this wall a challenge. Floor plug to the rescue. It countersunk enough that the lid can be closed with cord plugged in.
The famous plugging and unplugging of the toaster. Wouldn’t it be nice if instead of the usual plugging and unplugging we put that plug on a switch. It’s convenient but the real plus is that plug isn’t being weakened slowly but surely. More to the point, a toaster is a high amperage device so when that plug connection begins to weaken, resistance goes up and that connection gets hot. That’s a consent. Some solutions:... 1. No more toast is not an option. 2. Mount a switch in another box somewhere handy that controls that plug. An hours labour maybe with a little material and presto. 3. Use one of the handy dandy CSA approved switch/plug combos as shown. You loss a plug but gain one switched. 5 minutes tops and just the switch/plug and presto. See more
