Doggy training tip: No thanks! Does your dog not enjoy being brushed or towel dried? Here’s a tip that may help you make the experience more enjoyable for yourself and your dog. Take a Tupperware container and smear some natural peanut butter or plain cream cheese on the bottom, allow your dog to lick the container while you perform the drying or brushing. Follow this tip each time you dry them and brush them and soon you’ll have a dog who looks forward to the experience!

Doggy training tip: Dog won’t come when you call them? If your dog has an issue with coming when called start fresh! Try changing up your verbal cue and find a delicious high value treat your dog gets excited about and only use it for your recall training sessions! Keep it short, sweet and end on a positive note!

Doggy training tip: Stay cool in the heat! We all love taking our dogs out on summer adventures, We highly recommend you pop a wet towel in a plastic bag in your freezer and then bring it along in a cooler for hot day play sessions when it’s time to relax lay the towel on the grass and allow your dog to lay down to cool themselves off!

Doggy training tip: Treats treats and more treats! We highly recommend you use high value treats when training your dog. It’s best to select three treats your dog gets really, really excited about and rotate them weekly to help keep your dogs interest and help make your training sessions more successful and enjoyable!

Doggy training tip: What better way to end a summer training session with your pup then to offer them a tasty pupsicle! Try freezing low sodium chicken or beef broth or plain yogurt in an ice cure tray and reward your dog at the end of your training session with a cool delicious treat!

Doggy training tip: Learning how to walk on a leash is important because of areas with leash laws. Also, there are times when keeping your dog on a leash is for his/her own safety. Try to introduce your dog or puppy to the leash, then teach him how to walk properly on the leash.

Doggy training tip: reward and reinforce good behaviour! When you catch your dog doing something good, remember to reward and praise them. It’s easy to only notice bad behaviour but don’t ignore the good behaviour.

Doggy training tip: if you have a puppy, remind yourself he/she is still a puppy! Adjust your expectations accordingly to physical and mental limitations. Puppies grow up fast!
