How do we distinguish between those three terms? Most of our products are certified home compostable meaning they do not need the specific conditions of industrial composting to begin to break down. In fact, we test this all the time and when placed in a bin of dirt the exposure to air, w...ater, sun and nitrogen from food scraps, leaves etc break down our products in months. We even tested this with out turning the soil in the bin - essentially burying the products as they would be in a landfill and they still break down rapidly. When we compare this to the petroleum plastic alternatives which take hundreds of years to break down there’s just no reason not to make the switch to eco-responsible products. Today is earth day and we’re launching these two posters to mark the day. 100% of the proceeds from each one will be donated towards an environmental protection organization. Our Life cycle poster (left) depicting how our products decompose will be sending funds to @envirodefence which is a great organization that made us aware of the threat Ontario wetlands are currently facing. We collaborated with tattoo artist @smokingmermaidtattoo on the second poster which the proc...eeds will go towards an ocean protection organization. We will update our website to say which organization she chooses as it’s currently tbd. We want to thank @smokingmermaidtattoo for coming to us with this great idea, her poster design is also a check list where you can mark which eco-products you have. Both posters are a great conversation piece for your work space and let customers know that you are making eco-responsible choices for your business. Just to recap on the story we made yesterday - Biodegradable gloves in sizes small, XL, XXL are back in stock. Smalls: green and black XL: green XXL: green and blue ... Next week extra smalls will be in and hopefully medium and Large. We’ll keep updating on those last two sizes though. These gloves are biodegradable and will break down in a microbial active landfill between 1-5yrs. Currently there is a manufacturing facility in Alabama USA being built. #biodegradable #ecotattooing #goodjudytattoo #ecofriendly #ecoresponsible

We’ve been chipping away at providing sustainable masks and have found an option we feel strongly about: Organic hemp masks with eco-filter inserts made from Canadian wool and biodegradable non woven fabrics. Right now our filters are being tested in a lab for effectiveness and we can’t wait to get them into use after that. After testing different masks for months we feel that this is the most comfortable option that feels secure in its protection level. Our mask manufact...uring partner is the first member of the Fair Wear Foundation which is a non-profit foundation working to improve labour conditions through providing essentials such as medical benefits, safety insurance, regular salary raises, vacation days and community building. Further more their facilities are solar powered and farming practices as sustainable as possible through measures like using rain water for irrigation and free grazing cow manure as fertilizer. Partnering with manufacturers who integrate their values into every aspect of their business is how we continue to stay true to our own. As masks continue to be a part of daily life we’re looking forward to offering up an eco responsible option. See more

Barrier film decomposing Around 7-8 months ago We started a decomposition experiment in a box of dirt and placed our gloves, our barrier film and some regular plastic items in there. Today We dug it up to check on it and this barrier film is doing great. It’s broken off into smaller pieces and is extremely flimsy. Swipe to see a regular petroleum plastic clip cord that looks exactly as it did the day this project started. This experiment doesn’t replicate the conditions of... a landfill exactly but we did let it sit buried in the dirt and get exposed to rain / other elements to see how it goes on it’s ownswipe to also see one of our gloves that has also started to show signs of decomposition.
