Good Ponds

Turn your back for a moment, and there's a squirrel trying to hide a walnut under your landscaping rock...

Thanks to Jamie Trew and Michell Excavating for the slinger and 10+ yards of garden blend. The slinger turned what would have been most of the day moving soil down, around, and back up through the yard, into a 15 minute unload exactly where we wanted it.

And a little more water still. Pond level is about 10- 12 from top height. But we won’t add it all in until we add more rock.

Yesterday was day 2 of craning rocks and boulders into the pond. Over 20 were lifted in with a total weight well, well north of 40 000 lbs

Test run of the waterfall yesterday at 50% flow rate This spill stone weighs in somewhere between 6000 and 7000 lbs and cantilevers out roughly 30 inches over the water. The spill lip is 7 feet long is roughly 5 feet from front to back.... Seeing as this is going to be a swim pond, I tested the rock for stability by jumping in a few times. :-)

Well it was a long, long, day. Moving something around 20 000 + lbs from the road edge into the pond. And another day tomorrow...

So this is happening today. One partly done, many more to go Crane days are very good days

Throw back Thursday to that time when we ordered another 6 tons of boulders the night before the crane comes and then remembered the place for the sofa sized one was still a mound of soil.... Oh wait, that was tonight...

It’s slowly filling :-)

Well we were racing to get things done before another rain hit us, but 2500 square feet of liner is finally in. There is a whole back story of weather delays that I hope to post about, but for now, the liner is in and the first 6 inches of water has been filled. :-)

Excavations are done. Hand edging and onto the liners.
