Read Luke 1:56 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/ We don’t know a lot about what happened during those 3 months that Mary stayed with Elizabeth. It was likely a very simple time. There wasn’t great fanfare or fireworks every night. It was a time that the two women were able to consider how their lives would change with the addition of the babies and a time where they both supported each other as they did their everyday chores. This is how the son of God spent his first f...ew months of life on earth; in Mary’s belly, living a very simple life. Our lives aren’t filled with continual fireworks and parades either. We have to do chores, our parents have to work, we can’t always get the newest and fanciest things. But in those times when life seems boring we can rejoice that in our simplicity we are living a life similar to Christ’s. Write or draw on your slip of paper some of the most simple things that God uses to show you that He loves you. Prayer: Lord, help me to truly believe how much you value me. Amen.

https://youtu.be/GFrKrWb9HiY This week's readings continue the issue of human pain. Suffering is bad, but can it produce good outcomes? And if it does produce good outcomes, can it still be called suffering?

https://youtu.be/yWiKqxClNT4 This Wednesday, we hear about the trap set for Christ - asking him if it is lawful to pay taxes to Caesar or not. But Jesus doesn't fall for the trap, and tells his hearers to render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to render unto God the things that are God's. In our world right now where there is government involvement in worship services, we get to ask how best we can render the right things to the right authorities.

https://youtu.be/GScS-6Fz_WA Wednesday's service was all about Jesus as the son of Abraham. It isn't just his direct lineage that we're talking about, though. We're talking about Jesus as the fulfillment of the promises made to Abraham. Through him, all the families of earth will be blessed.

https://youtu.be/EpT569WnlF0 In our session on CS Lewis' problem of pain this week, we're talking about human wickedness. Something that becomes more and more obvious the more we're in a pandemic. Don't you see everyone around you being stupid about rules? Masks, no masks, quarantines, parties, no matter who is doing what, we've all got some sort of commentary about it. And human wickedness is the doctrine that tells you that the bad behavior you see in the world around you actually extends one person further. To you

This Advent season will be one like no other. Rather than pretend that it is completely normal, we want to encourage you to take some time to return to the roots of Advent. We want you to take time as a family to study the story of Christ entering the world so many years ago. Follow us on our Facebook page as we encourage your family to delve deeper into the scriptural tale of long, long ago. Every day of Advent, we will be linking to the Lutheran Hour Ministries Advent Devotions for 2020 and including a family appropriate craft and discussion questions. Please join us as we desire to bring simplicity and depth into this Advent season.

Read Luke 1:46-49 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/ Did you know that right now in the world there are 7.8 billion people? That is a lot of people! How many of those people do you think know who you are? Definitely not all 7.8 billion people, that’s for sure! But, do you want to know something exciting? God knows all of those 7.8 billion people, and, more importantly, out of all those 7.8 billion people he knows you! He knows everything about you! In our bible reading to...day we hear Mary singing a song of joy about how out of all the possible people in the world, God chose her for such an important task. That God knew who she was and determined that she would make the best mom for the son of God. Even though you may seem small and overlooked, God sees you, he knows you and he loves you. Write or draw on your slip of paper how you know that God sees and cares about you. Prayer: Lord, help me to truly trust in You, that you see me and love me. Amen.

https://youtu.be/fvDbmaR-fwI Welcome our first Advent Shepcast! And we look at the lessons we can learn from the fig tree as well as from the COVID tree. You'll never know if a precaution was necessary until it's too late, so always be ready. And after being ready for a while, you begin to realize that maybe these precautions were a good idea whether you thought you were going to catch a deadly virus, or the King of Kings was going to return today, or not.

The nature of modern morality dictates that we are going to, by and large, assume that actions are correct based on us having taken them. But if that's the case, then how can things be truly good or bad? Christ answers that question by posing to us an impossible task - not just to do good things or avoid bad things, but to not miss opportunities. Can we ever really say that we have done such a monumental task? Can anyone?
