I am proud to advocate on behalf of persons living with dementia and their families. This is a serious issue that needed immediate support and funding. If you would like to discuss your families experience with dementia care - reach out anytime. 902 940-3231

Today I asked the Premier about the deplorable state of Deacon House - a mens overnight shelter managed by Health PEI for adult males who abuse substances or have a chemical dependency. The outside is in complete disrepair, the siding is falling off, the roof is a mess, the doors don’t shut properly., and inside there are cracks in the walls, holes in the baseboard, mold in the kitchen and bathroom, the ceiling and wall paint is peeling off, the beds are simple cots. It’s... hard to believe unless you see it, that our government thinks this is an appropriate and safe facility for Islanders. I have attached pictures so you can get a sense of the state of the facility. The Premier’s response was that the building has reached the end of its life and that some sort of a solution is being considered. He gave no indication of what improvements will happen NOW. Islanders deserve better
