Dear Friends I will be reading some new works at the Literary Market on Wednesday September 5, 2012. The Literary Market is a special event hosted by the Hillhurst-Sunnyside Community Farmer's Market. The Market is located behind The Hillhurst Sunnyside Community Centre, at 1320 5 Avenue NW, Calgary, AB T2N 0S2. A number of wonderful Calgary authors, (including me wonderful or not) will be reading between 5 and 7 pm. The Public Library and Pages will both have tables out. And there will be a beer garden between 4:30 and 9:00. And if that isn’t enough fun already my great friends from the Calgary Cinematheque are hosting an outdoor movie screening in the tennis courts after the beer/wine garden closes. Oh, and of course there will be the Farmer’s Market so you can plenish your stomach as well as your soul!
Hey check out the rather romantic new post up on my site.
Thank you to the Fernie Writers Conference for an incredibly enjoyable opening night BBQ and readings. The BBQ was tasty but more importantly for me the audience was amazing so engaged and appreciative. And thank you to Sid Marty whose beautiful songs and singing were a perfect foil to my reading. Sid is a delight to know and pleasure to work with. I hope he had as much fun as I did. Sid is one of the peaks of the Livingstone Range! Next on the Writers’ Conference agenda I participate on the panel ---
I will also be participating in the Thursday Moderated Panel. This will be an excellent discussion for anyone new to the conference or anyone considering attending a writers' conference. Please join me.
I hope you will join me this Wednesday. The reading is free - however if you wish to join us for dinner as well tickets ($20) must be purchased today from the Conference Coordinator, Carolyn Nikodym.
I recently listened to some poetry and it inspired a poem which I have for now placed in Bin Ends. Check it out at my website. Best Gordon
Here is my first Bin End - why not Bin Ends?
Thank you to JoAnn McCaig and her wonderful team for an incredible afternoon at Shelf Life Books yesterday! Peter Oliva and I had a great time, lots of great conversation and Peter and I talked a lot about future work. I read from an unpublished work that Peter admires and which gave the audience alot to think about in the context of our other work. It was a perfect way to spend a windy and cool Sunday afternoon!
Sombrowski’s beautifully rendered, emotionally powerful stories makes us consider the many varied faces of love and human relationships, of forgiveness and redemption. Thank you to Lori Hahnel who wrote a wonderful review of What Echo Heard in the April 2012 edition of Alberta Views Magazine.
Additional information on the April 15th reading at Shelf Life Books can be found here:
I will be doing a reading with Peter Oliva at Shelf Life books in Calgary on Sunday April 15 from 2 to 4 p.m. I will be reading first. Everyone welcome.
I will be reading this upcoming Saturday, March 10th in Cranbrook at Lotus Books (33 - 10th Avenue South, Cranbrook, BC across from City Hall). I will be there between 2:00- 4:00 pm and reading at around 2:15 and 3:00 pm. Please share with your friends who live in Cranbrook who may be interested. Please join me.
