TRENT-SEVERN WATERWAY 2019 NAVIGATION SEASON STARTS ON FRIDAY MAY 24, 2019 PETERBOROUGH, ONTARIO, May 23, 2019 - Parks Canada advises that the Trent-Severn Wa...terway 2019 Navigation Season will begin on Friday, May 24, 2019. All lock stations are operational and lock staff will be on hand to receive boaters as of Friday, May 24, at 9 a.m. The start of the 2019 navigation season for the Trent-Severn Waterway was previously scheduled for Friday, May 17, 2019, but was delayed due to extreme high water levels and flows throughout the Trent-Severn Waterway which causes unsafe boating conditions. The public is welcome to continue enjoying the canals' lock stations, which have been fully open to land-based visitors since last week. As water levels across the system are still higher than normal for this time of year, Trent-Severn Waterway staff will be conducting dam operations and increasing flows in the evening and night, outside of operating hours. Residents and visitors should exercise extra caution around and on the water. There is a loon in the Bobcaygeon channel that seems to be in distress. I have contacted SOH wildlife centre who are willing to care for it but unfortunately do not have the resources to catch it.
