Gord Smith Sculptor

An early painting on paper whose shapes appear as a sort of lovely calligraphy. The controlled chaos of each brushstroke is suspended together by the dark inner core which is shaped like a superall - a form known for gathering particles together. Gord Smith’s cast bronze Pillar Figure from 1979 was restored and installed at the @camhfoundation’s McCain Complex Care & Recovery Building in Toronto this past summer. The sculpture was previously situated in front of the Donwood Institute, Toronto’s first public hospital dedicated to the treatment of addiction.
