Apparently it is International Dog Day! I am enjoying seeing pics of everyone's favourite pouches! This is Spike. Spike quite often can be found hanging at the office on his pillow or favourite chair! He has a sixth sense of who carries dog treats in their purses!

Did you know today is National Tooth Fairy Day? Tooth Fairy was at our house this week for my daughter, Charlotte! How much did you get from the tooth fairy? I think I used to get a quarter!

Frequently Asked Questions about Dentures How often should I have to replace my dentures? While its true that dentures are durable, they arent any more permanent than a pair of shoes. Dropping them even a few inches can break a tooth or the denture base. Even with conscientious care, denture teeth can lose their natural appearance and chewing ability due to chewing, brushing and age. Your diet and bite play a role in the wear on your dentures as well. A dental exam will a...llow us to access the wear on your dentures. Will I need to continue to see a denturist once I have my dentures? You should see our denturist for regular annual exams. Well check that your dentures are in proper condition while also examining your tongue, jaw and gum ridges for any signs of oral cancer and lesions. We may see cracks or repairs before you notice them and can repair them before they happen. Will anyone notice Im wearing dentures? If your dentures need re-fitting or are quite worn, they might look unnatural. Its important to visit us regularly so we can ensure your dentures have a proper fit. Its also important to maintain proper home cleaning routines to avoid unpleasant odours and stains. Will I be able to eat normally and speak properly with dentures? Properly fitting dentures can actually make chewing easier, which is an important part of continuing a healthy diet as you age. However, there could be some food restrictions depending on your situation. The initial period of adjustment when you first receive your dentures may cause some speech changes and create some chewing issues as you adjust to having the denture in your mouth. Are dentures affected by medication? This depends on what medication you are taking. Let us know of any over-the-counter and prescription medicine you take (even if its just on occasion) so we can accommodate for any effects they might have. Medications that cause dry mouth can make wearing dentures challenging. We can recommend products to help create a saliva substitute should your xerostomia affect your ability to wear your dentures comfortably. Can I make my own denture repairs? No, any do-it-yourself repairs can actually damage your dentures even more. Visit us to repair or reline them often the corrections can be made within the same day. My dentures need to be replaced will I go through another long adjustment period? Because your mouth is already used to dentures in general, it should be a much shorter adjustment time. It is much better to have to adjust to replacement dentures than to wear poor fitting dentures that can hurt your gums and even shrink the ridges of your mouth.
