Trying something new with an old favourite... Customer's Product Spotlight: Stonehooker Brewing Company 's Broad Reach Noreaster IPA A New England Style IPA. East Coast or Hazy IPAs are one of the two major groups of American IPAs along with West Coast IPAs. While West Coast IPAs are known for big bold flavours of citrus and pine with a toasty malt backbone; East Coast IPAs focus on later hop additions with grain additions of wheat or oats and use more fruity yeast strains. E...xpect a softer IPA with plenty of citrus, tropical fruit, and plenty of cloudy pints. Located in Port Credit, on the shores of Mississauga, Stonehooker gets their name from a trade of yesteryear. When the railroad went through Southern Ontario, it left many shipping schooners without work. We would say they pivoted; they would say they took a jibe. Changing the boats from transportation of goods to collectors of lake rock. The crews would use long poles with hooks to fish up stones to later sell as construction materials in the growing cities such as York (Toronto). The tradition faded as concrete became more popular and the sailors were without work again.
