The most common symptom of oral cancer is an ulcer or sore in the mouth or on the lip that doesn’t heal. Don't ignore any pain in the mouth that doesn’t go away.... Other signs and symptoms of oral cancer may include: * White patches red patches in the mouth or lips *A lump or growth on the lips, in the mouth or on the tongue thickening of the inner cheek lining (the buccal mucosa) * Bleeding in the mouth, loose teeth or poor fitting dentures * An earache that doesn’t go away *Slurred speech or swollen salivary glands &/or swollen lymph nodes in the neck or swelling of the jaw * Numbness or loss of sensation over the tongue or lips * Voice changes or pain or difficulty swallowing * Weight loss In 2020, an estimated: 5,400 Canadians will be diagnosed with oral cavity cancer. 1,500 Canadians will die from oral cavity cancer. 3,700 men will be diagnosed with oral cavity cancer and 1,050 will die from it. 1,650 women will be diagnosed with oral cavity cancer and 440 will die from it. In an announcement today, the Ontario government committed to providing $25 million to expand access to the Ontario Seniors Dental Care Program. The funding wil...l be used to support 78 infrastructure projects across the province, including building new dental clinics and renovating existing facilities. The province is also adding eight new mobile dental clinics that will bring services directly to clients, making it easier for vulnerable seniors to access the dental care they need.
