Got a Honey Bee Swarm?

The swarm box is ready and waiting for new occupants. The honey bee swarm season is near! If you will spot a swarm, let us know. We will remove it with no cost to you and give it a safe home at our educational apiary.

In some warmer places a honey bee swarm season started. There is a chance that here, in Southwestern Ontario we will have the swarm season earlier this year. Let us know as soon as you will spot one. We will remove it for free and give it a safe home at our educational apiary.

Winter is almost over. In about 2.5 months we can expect start of a swarming season!

This picture was taken last winter. It is an abandoned honey bee hive. Honey bee colony is not able to survive Canadian winter outside of a cavity.

Established honey bee colony in the wall

With a heavy heart honey bee colony extraction from the wall at this time of the year. The colony removed from the wall in September has chance of surviving winter close to null. On Monday the building owner starts renovation. No other option; we have to remove bees. Month earlier will be so much better for t.he bees.

This year swarm is making a new comb. A golden colour of bees signals a lot of Italian bee genes. It will be interesting to see if they'll survive Canadian winter. Italian bees are not very frugal.
