So does an Epsom Salt bath because Epsom Salts ARE magnesium. Magnesium is a key factor in a normal tone and in the relaxed state of muscles. If you are having trouble relaxing after exercise, try magnesium gel or an Epsom Salt bath. Be cautious turning to oral magnesium supplements. If you don't really need them, the result of using magnesium supplements can backfire, leading to explosive diarrhea and low blood pressure resulting in wooziness when moving to a standing position. Yes I am back to work. NO you do not need a prescription to have a massage any longer. The requirement was lifted January 18th. Massage Therapists ARE back to work! Looking forward to seeing you again!

Sent to Me this morning by the NHPC, My Professional Association regarding return to work permission, regarding the requirements for prescriptions and the use of PPE gear in massage therapy clinics: December 23, 2020 As per the update provided by the Chief Medical Officer of Health, massage therapists are able to resume immediately providing services under the following guidelines: All clients must have either a written prescription from a Medical Doctor, or a written referr...al from a regulated health professional (https://www.alberta.ca/regulated-health-professions.aspx) An existing written prescription is only valid if issued within the last 12 months. An existing written referral is only valid if issued within the last 12 months. A copy of the original written prescription or written referral is acceptable. The written prescription or written referral must be provided prior to receiving treatment. A copy of the written prescription or written referral must be kept in the client’s file. All previous requirements for hygiene standards, PPE, masks, and other barriers issued by the individual associations will still apply until January 4, 2021. We will release the new Infection Prevention Control Manual for Massage Therapists in Alberta document before the end of 2020, which will come into effect January 4, 2021. This exemption, which has been provided by the Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH) may be terminated or modified by the CMOH in writing without notice and for any reason as determined by the CMOH. HUGE NEWS!!!! I'm ecstatic to make this announcement!! The Provincial Government JUST announced that massage therapy services may resume PROVIDED the patient has a medical prescription from their physician for massage therapy services OR from another Healthcare Professional, such as a Chiropractor, Physio, etc. I will be able to go BACK to work now, but please ensure you have acquired a prescription for massage. IF you have had a prescription made any time THIS YEAR for mass...age therapy which you provided to your insurance benefits provider in order to have your benefits cover your treatments, this should be appropriate, however, you may be required to produce it, so please find it or have a copy of it. This is a Provincial Government requirement. I WILL RESUME WORK and will begin booking/ taking clients on Dec. 28th. You can call, text or book online for appointments. BE AWARE: ALL previous COVID precautions remain in effect. You must wear a mask, hand sanitize when you enter, and refrain from booking if sick, have any cold-like symptoms, fever or have traveled out of the country in the past 14 days, or have been in contact with anyone who tested positive for COVID-19 or was in direct contact with someone with COVID-19. Some of you may have heard that the Provincial Government is shutting down many businesses again. I just received notice through email that all massage therapy businesses have to shut down as of December 13th. I can't begin to tell you how upset it makes Me, especially since Physio and Acupuncturists can remain open. I find that ridiculous and discriminatory. IF you need a treatment and have been putting it OFF, Please book with Me for this week. I still have some spots left. I have to shut down December 13th and I will have spots still open for tomorrow, Thursday, Friday, Saturday to accommodate those in need. PLEASE contact ASAP to book in before next week. I have NO idea how long we are being shut down for. I am so sorry to have to announce this. - Marie
