I have loved these socks, Picture 1, for a very long time. so eventually I decided to order myself a pair. The socks I now make with the fancy cuff were based from this picture. And then I received the ordered socks and as you can tell, they do not look the same at all! If it is not the colour it is the style! Worst of all is the way they were made. I understand that it is factory made, but take a look at the seam. No way could I walk in socks like these. To bad, eh.

It has been a while but here is an interesting discovery I made making socks with the fancy ribbons. Sock on the left. All you need to do is do 5 rows of purling, 5 rows knitting, 5 rows purling and continue with as many rows like these you would like. Sock on the right. With these socks, I still did alternate rows as with the left sock, except on the purl rows, I added stitches every 3 say, for the first row only. And on the last row of that ribbon, I decreased back to the amount of stitches I started with. In picture 2, it shows what it looks like when worn.

My first roll-top socks finished. I do not particularly like the wool patterned for this, but it worked out fine. At least I figured it all out!
