As you all know that the Yellowknife Municipal General Election for the positions of Mayor (1) and Councilors (8) will be conducted on Monday, October 15, 2018. A. To be eligible to vote you must be: 18 years of age A Canadian citizen And have resided in Yellowknife for 12 consecutive months immediately preceding the day on which you vote.... B. Am I on the Voter's List? To confirm you are on the voters list please visit: http://www.yellowknife.ca//city-gove/Am-I-on-the-List-.asp Online voter registration please visit: https://www.yellowknife.ca//city-gov/Enumeration-Form.asp To find out where you need to vote visit: https://yellowknife.ca/wheretovote Please zoom in on the map until you see your neighborhood or residence and click on it. For further information, please contact the Office of the Returning Officer at 920-5602, or email [email protected]. C. Polling Stations: Although the City of Yellowknife does not divide the municipality into Wards for the purpose of electing Councilors, voters are required to vote at the poll location designated by their Poll Divisions. The Poll Division locations are as follows: Poll 1 (Great Slave) - Ecole Sir John Franklin High School Poll 2 (YK North) - Ecole Weledeh School Poll 3 (YK Centre) - Northern United Place Poll 4 (Frame Lake) - William McDonald School Poll 5 (Range Lake) - Range Lake North School Poll 6 (Kam Lake) - Multiplex Arena Poll 7 (YK South) - N.J. Macpherson School For further information, please contact the Office of the Returning Officer at 920-5602, or email [email protected]. D. What if I am not on the voter list Pursuant to the Local Authorities Elections Act, the deadline to make additions, deletions and revisions to the Voters List is October 5, 2018. If you are not on the Voters List on Election Day you will still be able to vote. Pursuant to the Local Authorities Elections Act, a person who presents their self at a voting station for the purpose of voting is entitled to vote at the election, if that person is eligible to vote and the person makes a declaration of eligibility stating that: I __________, declare that: I am a Canadian citizen; I have attained 18 years of age; I have, for at least 12 consecutive months immediately preceding election day, been a resident of Yellowknife, or an area that has, during the 12 months preceding election day become a part of Yellowknife as a result of a variance of the boundaries of the electoral district; I have not already voted at the election; I have not voted by proxy; I have not received any benefit or consideration for voting at this election. Once you sign the Declaration of Eligibility you will receive your ballots. E. What if I can’t vote it on the Election Day? If you know you will be unable to vote on Election Day, you may vote at the Office of Returning Officer in City Hall from October 1 to 5, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
