More on the Vail Lift 'accident'... https://www.vaildaily.com//new-jersey-man-died-of-positio/ Maybe accidental, but includes negligence by Vail.
Check out this story: https://coloradosun.com/2020/02/15/jason-varnish-vail-death/ Likely...Some lift attendant did not flip up the seat and the patron sat down then partially fell through. Then got strangled likely by his own clothing. A similar situation last year at Big Bear CA.

There will soon be a survey available to poll skiers & riders about their sentiments on Safety in the Sport. If you are interested, make a comment here and we'll ensure you get the link to the survey. The intention is to sample both knowledge and concerns that patrons of the sport have about Safety, and help guide efforts by a new collaborative about to take actions.

Couple indications of pop culture in the ski world... Seems like danger & foolishness is esteemed. Kinda like bragging about your cigarette use in the 60’s or vaping in 2019.

Consider the change movements that have occurred over the decades: civil rights, abortion, workers rights, women's rights, victims reparations, ending apartheid, Catholic Priest Sex scandals, climate change and on. Many of these are chronicled in movies -think Erin Brockovich, Marshall, Selma, Spotlight and many others. So the process of creating large scale change is open to viewing. My take away from many viewings is this: the ingredients to generating change includes advo...cates, truth telling, actions, legal and cultural changes. But very importantly CONSTITUENTS. Many people that are affected & recognize the wrongs of the status quo, and are demanding change. Think of the race marches, war protests, ERA rallys, -all examples of constituents raising awareness, and stimulating actions. In our quest to generate change & advancement in ski safety, constituents are just not there. The only ones are the relatively few that have been either personally injured or had a family member injured or killed. Then eyes are opened to the maladies and underlying causes for a terrible lopsided proposition. The average ski patron (and industry employee) does not know about the Ski Safety Act, the effect of the liability waivers, their duties on slope, even the fact they are skiing on USFS lands. They don't know all that nor really care to learn. They are there to have fun, and learning all that stuff is not required. Until they get bonked. If you have read this far, please comment. See more
A system of Ski Industry stakeholders and entwinement is examined. Influence and actions among those stakeholders is at times contrary to the Public well being, and presents a formidable resistance to change & advancement. https://youtu.be/ONT_FSyB6kY
The high, under-the-influence and reckless need to be off the slopes. Serve & Protect must be a force on the slopes. Time is Up
