CPF Grande Prairie Call for Interest Summer 2021 Travelling Students January 14, 2021... Dear Parents and Guardians, All of our worlds took a dramatic change last spring; nothing we are experiencing in this stage of the pandemic is as usual. With this in mind, no one knows what to expect this summer as we reach out to determine who is considering the 2021 Summer trip for their student. The 2021 suggested itinerary is attached for your review. This is a great opportunity for your son and/or daughter. Educational travel adds further context and substance to classroom material and reinforces concepts learned throughout the school year and forms long-lasting positive memories for students. If you intend to allow your student to travel, please compete Form #1 General Student Information (also attached) and return to [email protected] . Once we have a tally of students potentially travelling this year, we will reach out to Jumpstreet Tours regarding costs. The price of the tour is determined by the number of travelling and paying participants. Chaperones will travel with the group at a 1:8 ratio but there are no guarantees that parents will be selected to travel. We will continue to assess the risks associated with travel before making any decisions regarding the planned summer trip. Many provinces have instituted restrictions and we will continue to keep abreast of changes in these limitations and regulations. We are also confirming deadlines for deposits and cancellation timelines with Jumpstreet Tours to protect your investment. Should your student not travel this year, your funds raised will be saved in your account if it was through volunteer time or, they will be returned if it was paid outright. You are eligible to use all funds raised on French cultural activities in future years until your child graduates or the funds are transferred to a sibling as per the handbook, so long as you maintain your membership in the CPF AB. Please return Form #1 General Student Info by January 31, 2021 to [email protected] . Sincerely, Kathy Therrien-Noullett CPF GP Travel Club 2021 Trip Coordinator

Sign up for the Mailbox Fundraiser ! Last year the club received close to $50,000 through this fundraiser. Last year families with a snow route were able to fund raise approximately $900 towards their family travel accounts. This amount changes year to year depending on the number of mailboxes in your route and the total amount of the contract.... For families new to the club: If you commit to this fundraiser the work depends on the snowfall and ice during the winter. If it snows more than 5 cm you have 24 hours to clear the mailboxes on your route of snow and ice. You will need to check once per week for ice and water. Routes average 25 mailboxes (some individual sites have 3-5 mailboxes together). When it snows a route usually takes between 1-2 hours to clean. Each route consists of an in town route and then every route has some out of town commitment during the winter. You will be given a phone to take before and after pictures that have to be uploaded. You will also be required to update the mailbox coordinators on a regular basis. You are responsible for your getting sand (you can get south of town for free) or salt. For specific questions post here or email [email protected]
