It is with heavy hearts we share some sad news, one of the Sport, Physical Activity & Recreation staff team members, Pat Lechelt, unexpectedly passed away Sunda...y afternoon. We do not have details regarding a funeral or celebration of life but will provide that information once available. Pat will be greatly missed by everyone that knew her. The AABC extends our sincere condolences.

Good morning, We are looking for female baseball players to join the camp. 11U, 13U, 15U As some of you know we have recently started our "Return to Play" 6 week program which filled up in 2 days. We recently decided to add a girls camp to the mix. If you would like to register your female baseball player in the camp, you must register before Thursday July 16. I also have some forms below that need to be emailed back to me if you wish to participate. Hello baseball families, Baseball is back! Well, sort of ??. GPMBA has adopted Baseball Alberta’s Return to Train/Return to Play plan and we’d like to see how much interest our parents and athletes have to participate in a summer training program. Due to limited resources we are only offering this program to kids 8-15 yrs of age.... At this time, we’re looking at developing a 6 week training program starting the week of July 13th. Details are still being finalized and are dependent on the number of volunteers, participants and coach availability. Number of day, times, schedules are all to be determined but it will either be 1 or 2 nights per week. Regardless of those details, the cost of this program will be only $50/player. Baseball Alberta charges us $27.50/player and $25/coach, the rest of the registration fee is to cover equipment costs, sanitation supplies, and athlete insurance. The program would be held out at our Evergreen Baseball Diamonds. It is essential that we know as soon as possible how many people would be interested so that we can begin the registration process, sign the appropriate waivers, and design a program in the next two weeks. Please email [email protected] with your intent to participate and fill out the information below by Sunday July 5th at NOON. This is not the registration form. Please be patient as we navigate around the new Covid restrictions and recommendations. Our top priority is to keep the kids and their families safe and healthy.

Hey everyone!!! I hope everyone is doing good considering we cant baseball together. If anyone is doing any hitting, throwing, conditioning, or playing with your family, post a pic below!! We would love to see how everyone is still enjoying the sport:) All of us at GPMBA miss each and everyone of you!!!!

Please see letter from our President. Hello everyone, I’m very sorry to announce that Baseball Alberta has officially cancelled all sanctioned activities for the summer. This announcement means that there will be no rep baseball played at all in 2020. With the current Provincial health regulations in place, it’s physically impossible to operate any kind of baseball league which for now includes games, camps, practices, etc. Baseball Alberta will be working on a ‘Return to Tra...in’ protocol that will have guidelines on how to potentially play or practice baseball once it is deemed safe to do so. Until that time, we are completely restricted from all baseball activities. If in the coming months, if the Province loosens the guidelines around physical distancing and group gatherings, we will certainly look at the possibility of getting our athletes back on the diamonds, but until then, we’re forced to stand down. GPMBA will start the process of refunding all fees that have been paid and we ask for your patience during that process. Many associations around the Province use the same registration system as us and there will be a backlog of requests that they need to work through. Thank you all for your patience through this trying time and we hope to see you all out on the diamonds again sometime soon. House League Credit Card refund update - Refunds are now going through everyone should see them applied to their cards within the next couple days. We apologize for the wait:)

Credit Card refunds for House League. Credit Card refunds were issued on April 9th and 10th for the 2020 Season. Please allow until Monday April 27. If you still don't see the refund applied to your card, please email me at [email protected]. You would have received a email on the 9th or 10th that your refund was processed, but that is on our end only, RAMP still has to process it. With the amount of refunds they have to issue, the wait is a bit longer than normal. I apologize for the wait, but we thank you for your patience.

Baseball Alberta’s Response to Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) April 15, 2020 UPDATE The Baseball Alberta Board of Directors has made the decision to extend the suspension of ALL sanctioned Baseball Alberta in-person events until June 1, 2020. The Board will continue to meet on a regular basis to re-evaluate the situation as information becomes available, and will provide further updates following these meetings.

To our valued parents and athletes: With the ongoing concern, world-wide and at home, regarding the coronavirus, I wanted to reach out to you and inform you of our response to this pandemic. The safety and well-being of our players and our coaches is always our priority, and we recognize the importance of keeping them all safe and healthy. We have all been actively monitoring the COVID-19/Coronavirus situation and taking steps to help keep our baseball community safe. With th...at being said we are faced with making a very hard decision but it is a decision that is necessary at this time. AFTER MUCH DEBATE AND WITH CAREFUL CONSIDERATION, WE ANNOUNCE THAT THE 2020 GPMBA HOUSE LEAGUE SEASON IS CANCELLED. WE ARE STILL WAITING FOR A DECISION FROM BASEBALL ALBERTA ON THE AA REP, AND ONCE WE KNOW, WE WILL INFORM EVERYONE REGISTERED FOR AA. FOR NOW, THIS NOTIFICATION APPLIES TO HOUSE LEAGUE ONLY. We will be issuing everyone a refund who has already paid their fees. We will refund the fees in the same way they were paid (credit card, e-transfer, cheque). If you paid by cheque, but it has not been cashed yet, we will shred your cheque, unless you specify otherwise. Please note that any EFT’s that were sent on or after March 18, we did not accept them. They will be returned to you. This was a difficult decision and we know that many kids will be affected and upset. As an association, we will try our best to offer some kind of solution to get kids playing baseball in 2020 once it is deemed safe to do so. Update regarding the 2020 Season. We are still in a wait and see pattern from Baseball Alberta if this season is a go. Registration is still open until March 31. If the season ends up being cancelled we will issue refunds to everyone who has paid their fees. We are still holding out hope for our 2020 season! Covid-19 UPDATE as of March 13: Please note that we will are cancelling our last day of winter camp this Sunday March 15th as well as cancelling all tryouts until further notice. Please Please PLease, when registering your child online and you pick EFT as a payment method, please make sure you include your child's FULL NAME in the comments of the EFT when you send it. Some kids have different last names than the parents and it makes it very difficult as we cant search the system using parents names.

Proper indoor shoes (no cleats) please have a separate pair of shoes that have not been worn outside. 2. Baseball pants or sweats/track pants (no shorts). 3. Baseball hat 4. Baseball glove 5. Any protective equipment (i.e. a protective cup) 6. Water bottle Recommended but Optional Equipment for Participants: 1. Personal Bats, helmets or catchers equipment Start Times for Participants (please arrive 15 minutes prior to the first session). If you choose to bring your own equipment to the camp, please be sure to label it and make sure it is with you before you leave for the day. Well I think the first day of winter camp was a success and all the kids seemed to have fun! thank you so much for all the help from the parents and the volunteers. We had some helpers that stayed all day to help, and we can’t thank you enough.

CAMP IS STILL ON: brrrrrr it is so chilly out there. We are still going to run the 1st day of camp today. Please drive safe.
