HOCKEY EASTERN ONTARIO One Team, One Mission, One Goal Bulletin: 2020/21-34... Re: Roster named for BFL National Women’s Team Selection Camp Good Day Everyone! CALGARY, Alta. Hockey Canada has unveiled the 47 players from across the country who will attend the BFL National Women’s Team Selection Camp, presented by Sobeys, April 14-22 in Halifax. Following training camps in January and March, the Team Canada coaching staff will use selection camp as the final opportunity to evaluate the players in preparation for the 2021 IIHF Women’s World Championship, May 6-16 in Halifax and Truro, N.S. The week-long camp includes practices and three intrasquad games at the Scotiabank Centre, which will take place in a secure self-isolation environment that is closed to both the public and media. Hockey Canada has worked extensively with the Province of Nova Scotia and Nova Scotia Public Health to ensure the health and safety of all participants and the community at large. Staff and players will continue to follow strict COVID-19 testing as per health and safety protocols that have been detailed and approved by Nova Scotia Public Health. The past year has been very difficult for our athletes, coaches and staff, but we have persevered and continued our preparation for the IIHF Women’s World Championship one year later than expected, said Gina Kingsbury, director of women’s national teams with Hockey Canada. We are grateful to the province and Nova Scotia Public Health, who worked with us to ensure we are able to hold our camp in a secure environment. Our athletes have never wavered in their preparation, both on and off the ice, and we expect a high-tempo and spirited camp as we select the team that will give us the best chance to compete for a gold medal on home ice. Canada will begin its quest for a gold medal when it opens the 2021 IIHF Women’s World Championship against Finland on May 6 at 6:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. PT. Canada will also play Russia, Switzerland and the United States in preliminary-round action. TSN and RDS, the official broadcast partners of Hockey Canada, will carry extensive game coverage and analysis throughout the IIHF Women’s World Championship, and will broadcast all preliminary-round games, quarterfinals, semifinals and medal games from the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax. Canada has captured 10 gold medals at the IIHF Women’s World Championship (1990, 1992, 1994, 1997, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2004, 2007, 2012), in addition to eight silver (2005, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017) and one bronze (2019). Edited to add: Coaches and trainers will have to assist the players with skates, helmets etc. We cannot have parents in the dressing rooms or hallways. Hello Everyone,... I hope everyone is staying healthy and safe. There are new entrance/exit protocols at the Civic Centre starting immediately. You will enter through the door marked entrance :45 minutes after the hour to the hour. Parents will be told side A or B and will make their way to the seats immediately after entering the building and signing in Players will sign in and make their way to their assigned rooms. They are to stay in the room until game/practice time. When the ice time is finished, all parents/guardians are to exit using the back staircase ( will be marked but it’s the stairwell furthest from the lobby) Players will return to their room and exit from the door nearest the lobby by room #5 Please note: There is no hanging out in the hallways, stairways or the breezeway to the ice. All participants and/or parents will be be admitted in the 15 minutes before the ice time ( ie 3:35-4:00). Anyone showing up after will not be admitted. Parents are not to open the door for anyone who is late as tracing and counting need to be done to ensure we are following rules and protocols set out by the Civic Centre and/or health unit. Lastly, any abuse towards the Rink staff will not be tolerated. If it continues the rink can very easily remove all spectators from the rink and have just players and volunteers permitted.
