From Ms. Gorgichuk: "The Grade 6 Evidence and Investigation Science Unit was brought to life when the students walked into a crime scene in their classrooms! Gr...ade 6 has been working very hard learning the ways of forensic scientists, the past couple months. They were matching fingerprints and footprints, taking suspects statements, analyzing their handwriting, and finished the day with a written report to present all their findings. All their efforts paid off as they were able to catch the culprit. Science Rules!" Awesome job, Grade 6!

Angela Nilsson Riverstone Public School It is the privilege of the Riverstone school staff to recognize Angela Nilsson for her exemplary service. Angela is a veteran teacher who possesses a deep passion for her craft. She is a true model of lifelong learning and reflective practice. She is always finding ways to imbed educational podcasts, books, professional development, and impromptu professional conversations into her daily work with kids.... Angela is also a generous collaborator and she can tactfully ask difficult questions in ways that lead to a better understanding for all. Even with all Angela’s expertise, she never loses sight of what education is all about: the kids. Mrs. Nilsson connects with students in meaningful and memorable ways extending far beyond the curriculum. For instance, she is willing to sacrifice her own personal dignity to sing the Friday song as students enter the class first thing after a long week. This might draw audible groans from the kids, but we know that deep down they all love itand so do her colleagues! Congratulations Angela!

Congrats to Ms. Hearn's class on their gingerbread house for The Festival of Trees! The children have been working on their creation for some time now and I thi...nk you would agree- IT IS OUTSTANDING! It has been all them from the planning, baking, creating, assembling, and decorating. We are really proud of them for supporting the community with their time for a great charity. If you are out @ The Festival of Trees, Nov. 22- 29- go through Gingerbread Lane OR put in a bid to take home their creation- all bidding will be online this year.

Our Remembrance Day Assembly looked a little different at Charles Spencer High School this year. We had to wear masks, maintain physical distancing, reduce the ...number of participants, and most of our student body had to view the assembly virtually. Despite all these changes we were still able to meaningfully remember and honor our veterans. It was remarkable to see and hear all the various talents of our student body on display. Emma and Gordon Haggerty opened and closed the service with the bagpipes and Scottish drums. Camryn Wright delivered a bilingual rendition of O Canada, accompanied by Ms. Mitchell on the piano. Tat Kuske and Erin Pelé read our Indigenous Land Acknowledgement and a French translation of In Flander’s Fields. Mr. Wall shared our Remembrance Day reflection and special guest Mr. Luna played the trumpet for the Last Post and Reveille. Many different staff members, classes, and individual students also made significant contributions to our assembly. Mrs. Emond and Grenier’s classes put together our backdrop under the creative direction of Mr. Grotkowski-McGill. Mr. Brown and Mr. Hemmingway provided much needed technical support. Students Reese Mayea and Alexandra Kemp-Weeber took the lead in video recording and photographing the event. Again, big thanks to everyone who was involved on the stage and behind the scenes to make our assembly the best possible experience.

The wreaths the children made were lovely and our grade 4 friends very proudly laid the wreaths on everyone else's behalf. See more

We’re hoping to collect (for the food back) in the Coca-Cola Centre parking lot. (The Salvation Army Food Bank) is typically always in need of food, and I suspect this year possibly there’s even more of a need for this sort of thing.
