This year Mothers have been superhero's. Mothers all over the globe have made sacrifices, put their children's needs ahead of their own, and carried a huge burden of this global pandemic. Today we celebrate all Moms and hope that you were able to feel extra special today.

The Chamber has been made aware of two recent collections scams in the area. These have been phone and email scams. One is from Reliant Communications, and they have been reported on BBB as representing TELUS, Shaw, and Bell. The other is a UPS scam email asking you to reply with personal information and a credit card to pay an invoice immediately. Unfortunately, there is not much the Chamber or the targeted businesses can do, other than create awareness. If someone sound...s fishy, trust your gut instinct. If you feel rushed to make a decision, or pressured to provide personal information, hang up, don't click strange links, and call the company directly to confirm if it was actually them trying to reach you. We encourage you to update your passwords regularly, and keep those passwords in a safe and secure place if you must write them down.

Today, Dec 12, 2020, is the first day of stronger public health measures, which will be in place until Jan 12, 2021. Mandatory, provincewide restrictions are in effect to protect the health system and slow the spread of COVID-19. - Retail services and malls must reduce customer capacity to 15% of fire code occupancy. - Restaurants, pubs and bars will be closed as of today to in-person service. Takeout, delivery and curbside pickup are allowed. - Hair salons, nail salons, cas...inos, bowling alleys, gyms, movie theatres, libraries and museums will be closed as of today. - Places of worship are limited to 15% of fire code occupancy. - Starting today, all employees are required to work from home unless their employer determines they need to be at work in person. Full list of the stronger public health measures: https://www.alberta.ca/enhanced-public-health-measures.aspx

We are excited to be the pick-up location for the Town of Stony Plain Christmas ornaments this year. Some of the precautions we are taking to ensure our staff are safe, and that each visitor is safe include: - requiring everyone who enters our office building to wear a mask - providing hand sanitizer - sectioning off the entrance of our building - handing you your ornament, and not letting you dig into the box to choose your own... We're excited to be able to work with the Town to continue the Christmas ornament tradition, and if you're a resident of Stony Plain, we look forward to seeing you. Our Stony Plain office is located in Rotary Park, behind KFC, Tim Hortons and A&W off of Highway 779.

With the rising numbers of COVID-19 in the region, businesses have asked what to do if a customer who has visited their store tests positive within 14 days of their visit. We do maintain a database of information on our website: https://www.gprchamber.ca/covid-19/ We also recommend businesses to familiarize themselves with the General Relaunch Guidelines on the AHS site here: https://www.alberta.ca//covid-19-general-relaunch-guidance Alberta Biz Connect has information brok...en down by industry available: https://www.alberta.ca/biz-connect.aspx If your business was the source of an outbreak, Alberta Health Services will contact you about contact tracing and if you need to notify other customers who were in your business on a certain day and time.
