So that’s how @kingjames got so tall... . For real though, there is not a single scientific study that shows lifting weights at a young age stunts growth. In f...act, the following medical associations have accepted weight training for children as a safe and effective mode of exercise: . -National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) -American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) -American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) -American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) -American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM) -American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM) -American Osteopathic Academy of Sports Medicine (AOASM) -American Academy of Pediatricians (AAP) . So if someone still tells you lifting weights stunts growth, kindly ask them to show them any research to support that claim. And then wait...you’ll be waiting for a while ____________________________ See more

It's with a heavy heart that I have to let our members know that Glen Hutchison has passed away. Glen first started training in strength sports at the age of 1...6 and since then he competed in weightlifting, powerlifting, and strongman. He was a pillar in the strength community and his giant smile and get-er-done attitude will be missed by many of us. Glen, your wisdom will carry on through those you have and continue to inspire.
