Hello from Dr. Paleczny and his Team! As of May 27, 2020 the government and the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario has announced that dentistry has entered stage 2 of reopening from the Covid-19 pandemic. Stage 2 includes essential and emergency services only. Unfortunately orthodontics is not included in this stage. Currently our office is only allowed to address emergency treatment as per our direction from our governing bodies. We are waiting for stage 3 to be a...nnounced (hopefully soon!!!) and as soon as we are able to open the doors we will be contacting you. We miss you and can’t wait to see your smiles! We will not be rescheduling our in-office appointments until we have a set reopening date. There is no need to contact us to check the status of your next appointment. We promise to reach out to you to reschedule your appointment as soon as possible. Once you have taken your photos of your teeth/braces/appliances, we can get a good look and evaluate any problems you may be having. FAQs What if I have braces? The good news is treatment is still progressing even if we aren’t seeing you, due to the nature of our modern and long activating teeth-moving wires. Keep wearing you elastics. Please remember to avoid any hard or sticky foods that may cause breakages. It is very important to keep your teeth clean during this time. I have Invisalign. How should I proceed with my treatment? If you are wearing Invisalign you should continue to progress through your aligners. If you are on your last aligner, you can continue to wear them 12 hours a day until we can see you in the clinic. Should I keep turning my child’s expander? Please only complete the number of turns that were requested then STOP. What do I do if I have a broken bracket or pokey wire? Do whatever you need to do to make yourself comfortable with what you have at home during this time. Nail clippers/cuticle trimmers are great for clipping wires that may be readily accessed. You can use wax from your home care kit to cover any rough or poking areas that you are unable to remove. Warm salt water rinses are great for sores in your mouth. (Mix. 1 Teaspoon of salt per 1 cup of warm water and swish throughout your mouth several times a day). If you are not able to resolve the issue or have questions please contact us. What if I run out of elastics or need wax? Please call us (or email us) and we will help arrange to get you more. What if I have broken my permanent bonded retainer? Don’t worry, just continue to wear your removable retainer to maintain your orthodontic alignment. Most importantly please maintain proper social distancing and stay healthy.
