Went out to the car fully ready to get the full moon tonight after a bluebird day... all clouds. Instead, here’s an almost-full moon, shot from the Bruce Trail on the Niagara Escarpment only about 400m from our midtown apartment in #HamOnt. Feeling lucky! Night!

Tucked away in an empty tree cavity, this Eastern Screech owl (Megascops asio) peeks its head out to feel the sun on a mild winter afternoon. Like so many species, the effects of climate change and sprawl disrupt seasonal migration patterns and threaten habitat. Eastern screech owls make their homes in mature hardwood tree and snags so healthy, undisturbed green space is more and more important as our cities grow outward. @ Burlington, Ontario

For a while now, I've dreamed of a canoe trip in Temagami, probably one of Canada's most iconic tripping systems and this year had a chance to. We left at 5am, the 16ft canoe looked almost comical strapped to the roof of my little Toyota. After a long 6 hours, we pulled into the launch point and this was the first face we saw - a thin red fox looking for the food it apparently was used to from boaters and tourists. As we unpacked the car, it approached us with caution. Nervo...us, but hungry. Without moving, I picked up my camera and snapped a few photos of the morning sun hitting the fox's face, as it slinked further into the margins of the parking lot. https://grahamperry.ca/stills #temagami #vulpesvulpes #environment
