We see lots of patients with foxtails! A lot of the time they end up in their mouth and larynx causing drooling, gagging, and swallowing excessively.

The Canadian Animal Blood Bank is low on blood products and our sister clinic is hosting a canine blood drive. If your furry companion fits the criteria, please send them an email.

Dr. Oakley was happy to be welcomed back from her medical leave by this cute crew! These fluffy kittens are called Selkirk Rex and come from Selkirk Rex Kitties Canada right here in Grande Prairie! It's not always cute puppies and kittens but we sure enjoy when it is! We offer litter rates for both puppies and kittens and are happy to answer any questions at 7805324638 @selkirkrexkitties

Covid-19 Update We know that the Covid-19 pandemic has changed the way many of us work and live. We were able to keep our doors open, to provide medical services, food, and medication refills. We were able to do this by keeping our doors closed to you, but open to your animals. This has been challenging for everyone involved, but it allowed us to safely continue to provide the care we needed to for our patients. While other businesses open to the public, we have decided to re...main closed door service. If one of us were to get sick, that's means our clinic has to close. This would mean no emergency/medical services, medication refills, or food. We would not want this for our clients, their pets, and our staff. We know this is frustrating for some. We understand the frustration. We are also frustrated at times. This means alot of communication via phone, resulting in jammed up phone lines. Please continue to be patient with with us. We care about your dogs and cats. we care about you, and we care about the health and safety of our staff and our families and yours. Thank you for understanding.

Has anyone else noticed lots of red spots on your dog's belly? If so these are mosquito/bug bites. This little one came in, the owner was worried she had a contagious rash. **Ensure you are using pet safe repellent, as deet products can be toxic to dogs.

Holly is feeling so much better after her grooming visit at the clinic today! She had to wait a little longer than usual for her clip, as grooming was closed down for a while due to the pandemic. But our groomer, Lindy, is back to work and looking forward to seeing all her clients and their pets again

It's Team Member Tuesday! We would like to Introduce Dr. Angela Oakley, our exceptional Medical Director Dr. Angela Oakley knew since a child that she wanted to be a Veterinarian. Growing up with horses, cows, dogs, and all other sorts of critters her love of animals started at a very young age. She started doing her undergraduate degree in Animal Nutrition at the University of Alberta then graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 2012. She then practiced... in a mixed animal practice in central Alberta. She loved treating everything from dogs and cats and horses to pot belly pigs, cows, goats, sheep and even camels! After struggling with a serious illness in 2016 and losing her leg she decided to pursue strictly small animal medicine, she moved to the Peace Region with her significant other and joined the Grande Prairie Animal Hospital in 2017. She took over as Medical Director of the clinic in spring of 2018. She has a love of surgery and enjoys anything to do with eyes! In her free time, she enjoys cross country skiing, competing in para dressage with her retired showjumping horse, and cuddling her 3 kitties. See more
