Our next favourite water plant is the Yellow Pond Lily! Native Water lily has yellow flowers that bloom from July to September. Height: 2 to 4... Depth: up to 15ft Full Sun Zone: 0 Interesting fact about the Yellow Pond Lily, is that they used to have traditional medicinal uses in many First Nations Cultures. For example, they used the rhizomes to treat tuberculosis, rheumatism, heart disease, ulcers and many other medical conditions!

This time we are sharing our favourite, native to Saskatchewan plant! First up, Bog Bean! Bog Bean is an interesting perennial marginal plant. Bog Bean is characterized by a horizontal rhizome with alternate, trifoliate leaves. The olive-green trefoil leaflets will stick out of the water up to 6" and have spikes of pink and white flowers with fringed petals. Bog Beans produce very attractive clusters of small star-shaped delicate whitish-pink colour flowers. When the petals ...of this pond water plant are fully open they are covered with a soft white fluff, or fringe. Pinkish white flowers. Blooms early Spring. Creeping spread Height 6 to 9 Depth: 0 to 12 Full sun to partial shade Zone: 3

We are sharing two plants today! Red Water Hibiscus: The pretty, highly visible flowers with red blossoms and interesting green foliage. The pollen parts of the Hibiscus can draw in hummingbirds, butterflies, and many other pollinators. Flowering occurs throughout the summer, with each flower living for approximately a day.... Use: Tropical marginal Flower Color: Red Leaf Color: Green Height: 6’ Hardiness Zone: 7-11 AND Acrostichum danaefolium, also know as Giant Leather Fern, is a tropical marginal plant. You can add a lush tropical look to your pond or water feature with this tall fern. Leather fern is great as a background plant in the marginal areas of the pond and can be quite stunning as a solitary plant.
