~ Lest We Forget ~ Did You Know... Dogs (and I'm sure cats too) have been used to help post war veterans cope with the difficulties they experience when they come home (if they have lost a limb, have PTSD(post traumatic stress disorder), or difficulty coping with fitting back into society.) There are a few organizations in the U.S. that use veterans to help create service dogs and guide dogs from shelters. The veterans need to cope with how they feel in order to help the dog get past their obstacles (eg. Fear). They help each other. :)
