Effective Monday, April 26th, booked time slots for visitation will be extended to 45 minutes. In order to accommodate this there wil be a slight adjustment to the daily visiting schedule - the first visit of the day will be booked at 1:40 PM and the last visit of the day will be booked at 4:10 PM to allow all visitation to end prior to the supper meal being served. We will also be opening up visitation on Sundays for the same time frame. Visits may be booked by calling (902) 538-3118 ext. 6077. We ask all visitors refrain from entering GVM if you are experiencing any COVID related symptoms, or reside in (or have travelled into) any of the restricted areas. We would also like to remind everyone to please sanitize your hands upon entering and exiting the building. Thank you

We are pleased to announce that we have been able to make adjustments to our staffing schedules to allow for visitation on Saturdays from 2-5 PM (starting this Saturday, March 27th). We do ask that if your work and/or personal schedule allows you to book visitation on week days, that you would consider continuing to do so in order that those with less flexibility may be accommodated on the weekend. In addition, designated caregivers will now have the opportunity to take thei...r family member out for a scenic drive in accordance with the following Department of Health protocol: Drives are to be taken with designated caregivers only The driver must wear a mask (medical or non-medical) for the duration of the drive Residents cannot leave the vehicle to enter any private (family dwelling) or public (stores, restaurants including drive-thrus) space Drives will need to be booked so residents can be prepared to go. Please book by calling your loved one’s unit directly. The driver (Designated caregiver) will need to be screened upon picking up the resident Again, we thank you for the patience and support you have shown throughout the past year, as we have worked cooperatively to uphold the safety of your loved ones. We are happy to have reached the point where all of our residents are fully vaccinated and are optimistic that the threat posed by COVID will continue to decrease in the upcoming months due to the vigilance of our family, friends and community members.

We want to extend our deepest thanks for your continued understanding this year, 2020 has proven to be challenging yet we have been able to keep everyone safe from Covid. All visitors will book appointments by calling 902-538-3118 extension 6077. Please leave your name, phone number and the name of whom you would like to visit. 2. All visits will be booked for 30 minutes YOU MUST ARRIVE ON TIME DUE TO SCREENING AND PPE REQUIREMENTS. Visitors must wear all PPE for the duration of the visit. 3. Only 1 visitor per resident will be booked for visitation. We ask that each resident be able to have visitations so we may be unable to accommodate multiple visits per week. 4. You can help make a #newgrandviewmanor happen. Please share this post to tell Minister Glavine #nshealth that a list of proposed spending going to Treasury Board soon needs to include #aroomofonesown for GVM residents.

As we were unable to hold our annual memorial service this year, residents representing each unit, assisted by staff, decorated a ’Memorial Tree’ in the lower lobby this week. An ornament was placed on the tree in loving memory of each of our residents who passed away over the last year. Those who touch our lives stay in our hearts forever

Minister of Health, Leo Glavine, did not bring a funding announcement to our 50th Anniversary event on Saturday. He did say he expected to be back in Berwick soon. Speaking to CBC Radio afterward, Minister Glavine confirmed he was in the midst of creating a list of proposed spending to bring to Treasury Board and said, I will probably know within a few weeks where we are with that list." Our Chair of the Board, Pauline Raven, is feeling positive news will be coming before the end of November and that Minister Glavine is working very hard to help us make this happen. You can help by sharing this post. #aRoomofOnesOwn #NSHealth #newgrandviewmanor
