Granito Coffee 01.06.2021

Growing 100% organic coffee requires many factors for ejemple, organic fertilizer. To apply it a hole of 40X30X40cm must be dug near to the trunk of the coffee plant, them the hole is filled with 6 pounds of organic fertilizer. My family doing this work today, using chicken manure, horse manure and coffee pulps as organic fertilizer. Each pound of coffee that you buy on granito coffee you support families like mine to continue working on organic way.... #organiccoffee #CoffeeWithAproposal

Happy Earth Day from your friends at Granito Coffee! Our environment is not something abstract. It provides the basis for everything, our societies, our cultures, our economies, and our coffee. At Granito, we believe that to make coffee a force for good in the world, we must attend to its impact and ensure that we make it economically, socially, and environmentally sustainable. Here’s how: We source our coffee from farmer-owned cooperatives that use organic principles and... grow their coffee in the shade of forest canopies. We use an energy efficient electric roaster and carbon filtration to reduce air pollutants and work with other roasters who share our commitment to make coffee more environmentally sustainable. We pack our coffee in biodegradable pouches and ship it in recycled and/or compostable mailers. What little emissions we can’t eliminate, we offset by working with PlanetAir and invest in carbon capture and environmental education projects. There is still more work we can do to reduce our environmental footprint but we are proud to be a carbon negative business. #EarthDay #CoffeeWithAPurpose #GranitoCoffee

We want to recognize all of the people that make Granito Coffee possible. That’s why we’re starting a new weekly feature called Granito Who? to share their stories! This week, Granito Who? is in collaboration with our friends at The Hub - Guatemala and features Don Lucas, or El Barista Maya: a key member of Cooperativa La Voz where Granito’s La Voz Café comes from. Granito friends, meet Mr. Lucas Bizarro! #GranitoWho #GranitoCoffee

Making honey coffee is a long process that requires lots of love and care. The result is a coffee that balances acidity and sweetness, with delicious fruity notes. Honey coffee is different because the beans are dried with the mucus of the coffee fruit still on. The sweet fruit flavour is infused into the beans as they dry. You can now pre-order Erwin’s Café la Nariz honey coffee online, so visit our website to place your order for this special bean!... #CoffeeWithAPurpose #HoneyCoffee #GranitoCoffee

Have you ever heard of or tried cascara tea? It is also known as "coffee cherry tea", but is actually made by steeping the husks of dried coffee fruit. The flavour takes on some of the natural sweetness of the coffee fruit, and has more caffeine than tea but less than is in coffee. We are so excited to announce that cascara tea from the San Miguel Escobar cooperative is now available on Granito Coffee! ... It is bursting with fruity, earthy notes of stewed plums, honey, and hibiscus and can be enjoyed hot or cold. Every bag comes with a free cascara tea recipe book (thanks to the friends at De la Gente) Pick up a bag to try yourself, or grab one for a friend as a delicious gift!

Granito Coffee is hosting a pop-up coffee cupping session this Sunday in Toronto, and we'd love to see you there! If you've never participated in a coffee cupping, here's your chance for a free coffee tasting 101. We'll learn about the beans, the process, the flavours and the tastes and how to appreciate the beautiful fruit that turns into your daily cup. Join us and the Operation Groundswell Marketplace in the Junction at the FARMHOUSE Tavern for a distanced day of coff...ee, one-of-a-kind holiday gifts and community. The Farmhouse Tavern has generously donated their space to small & independent orgs like Granito who aren't able to be with you in person due to the closures of the holiday markets. That said, we will of course be physical distancing and wearing face masks. There will also of course be big smiles behind those masks, and we can't wait to share this with you. We'll be here from 1-6pm, but join us at 2pm for the full cupping experience!
