At 3-4 months, prime puppy teething occurs and can last a couple of months. Here are a few survival techniques we like to recommend to clients when teething becomes overwhelming.... Some puppies may have the uncontrollable urge to tear things up. It's important to limit your puppy's access to be destructive. The best tactic to protect your valuable is to make sure those items aren't accessible to your puppy. Utilizing the crate or their playpen periodically throughout the day can help set your puppy up for success! Chewing and Mouthing are natural behaviours during this time as your pup is trying to soothe their teething pain, providing your puppy with a safe teething toy or a tug. KEEP CHEW TOYS AVAILABLE (We always recommend under supervision). *I like to soak a tug and put it in the freezer, so it provides a soothing sensation when they chew it. Puppy training should focus on behavioural problem PREVENTION in adulthood!
